I suspect powerstruggle. But there is now a possibility of a leader who Israel and the US will deal with, so peace is a real possibility now.

My years keeps getting better and better.

Well this would be a time for a rebel leader to rise to a head political office. However, it would also mean a war and I would presume a small dictatorship.

I just can't wait to see how this turns out to be the US's fault too.

Its a joke, I think its from the Simpsons:

"character X was taken to shelbyville hospital, where he was pronounced dead - character X was then taken to a better hospital, where his condition was upgraded to 'alive'"

Regardless of what is thought of Yasser, he has been a focus for a disenfranchised people for decades.

Most of the comments from the world's leaders have been ones of condolences. I'm glad a representative from my country will be going to the funeral.

On the other hand, the Israeli's reaction more along the llines of good riddance to bad rubbish. Perhaps they are right. But regardless of the past history between the two sides, now is not the time to grind that axe.

Not if the Palestinians decide to "Honour the Memory of Arafat - slaughter the Zionist Pigs wherever they hide".

    Seconded...

The world is in enough **** as it is. Perhaps peace can actually be achived now... or at least the situation improved... but I'm really skeptical of it. The conflict between these two peoples has been going on for a long, long time.

He's a great terrorist or a freedom fighter according to your polictical preference. But we need to get rid of America's support from Isreal to put an end to the destabilization of the middile east

Yeah... thats right. The only reason the whole Middle East hates Israel is because the US backs them....

On the other hand, we germans tried to conquer Europe for a century, on and off. Now that we've realised that we won't find better beer outside our borders, the worst we get up to is a little friendly France- and Netherland-bashing. Peace IS possible.
