    yup! but the G36 is also a compact weapon for house to house fights. There was a short film in the breaking news 2 years ago where german soldiers have had a fight with some afghan rebels in afghanistan. They showed the fight on TV for a few seconds and there was acually a german soldier with an G36 fireing from a corner on that afghan car. and it didn't seem to me that he's got any problems with handeling the G36.

    that's not surprising or anything.. if you're trained enough with a weapon, then you shouldn't have any problems handling it.

    by the way,the G36 is not a compact weapon. the G36 and M16 are both just about 39in long.

    the G36K and C models are the compact ones... just the same as the M4A1 is a compact M16 system.

    No, it doesn't.

    Both M4 and the newer M-16's have rails for accessories, and every one of them should have an optic of some sort on them. They should all have cans too, but that's another topic. We're rather late on joining the optics bandwagon, and I'm glad we're finally starting to get the idea.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I wouldn't want to have my head sitting up there long enough to look through a scope. We're not talking 10x zoom here. The ACOGs and aimpoints (among others) are optics that allow you to aquire the target and engage even faster than with iron sights. Snap shooting is faster, not slower with these sights.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->yup! but the G36 is also a compact weapon for house to house fights.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    The problem is as I mentioned earlier, with the folding stock you have two options; folded and extended. You either have a long rifle, or a glorified pistol. The telescoping stock on the M4 is better IMO, because you can adjust the length, allowing you to shoulder the weapon comfortably regardless of stature, whether or not you have body armor on or not, and so forth.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->1 G36, 1 M4 with M203 launcher, a machine gun, and either a G36 or fairly standard M4 depending on expect distance of engagements would be a good mix. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    It would be a logistical PITA.

    Sounds like you know what youre talking about, you in the forces?

    And I retract my previous statement, I've fired a C7 on a couple of occasions and i'll back Burncycle up on the practicality of optics.

    I was under the definate impression that snap shots weren't a big part of modern infantry engagements, so I wasn't taking it into consideration. Lots of ammo gets expended.

    Regardless, I would much rather have a better base gun than the m4 with optics.

    Out of those 3 guns, I'd probably go with the G36 as I'm a fan of H&K. But if I had to trust one gun with my life, I'd ask for an AK-47. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I can get a hold of most US military small arms to test fire them but getting foreign weapons is a tedious process. Though I must say some of the comments have piqued my interest in the g36.
