Mine Trip-lasers

Does anyone know where to get a laser trip-wire plugin for mines? I used to see them on a 3dwire server, but I can't find the plugin anywhere else.

That's like putting large arrows on player models to make them easier to see. Isnt that a bit... lame?

Trip-wire mines aren't lame, they were originially in the game...

Right, plugin. Thought he said models, sorry for that.

It's worth noting that since mines are now contact only (and don't trip), adding a laser would be considered cheating since it makes the mines more visible.

If it's a server plugin, it's not a cheat though.

Since people have already made the mistake twice, I will clarify. He doesn't want new models. He wants to change the mines so they are trip mines.

That being said, I don't know where you can get them. Keep in mind that the red beams can be really harsh on the server and easily contribute to it crashing.

The old trip mines used to own so much , really cool. Why were they removed?

The old mines killed your FPS rating more than it killed Skulks.

Although I do like the older mines. So much fun.

Lazer, somehow I don't think the devs had a roundtable and decided "hey, laser mines are lame, let's remove them!"... in other words, I believe they were removed for more general reasons. =P

anyway, I never had a problem with FPS and server crashing didn't seem particularly problematic back in the 1.04 days (maybe I'm delusional). I thought they were cool. the new mines are functional but less cool.

Old mines... FPS killers... whatever were.... FUN

remember NS-ECLIPSE (1.04 version... mining the narrow channel between the doors and the chair with as many mines as possible.... mission impossible for skulks....

I understand why they took em out.... lag, fps, ect...
    But even the devs gotta admit they were fun.... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

While we're on the subject of types of mines, I believe Claymore mines would be very useful when there are 6-8 skulks charging your base from one direction. They would be very conceivable seeing as how they are in use in real life. Also, since NS is set in the future, I think that Willy P (White Phosphorous) mines should be included in the game.

I thought he spoke of Science and Industry a GREAT HL mod. thus the lazer guided missile remark.

Sadly there are no skulks in SI sadly... but the trip mines are less lagtastic in SI.

I remember people going on marine teams and making piles of mines to try to crash the server... so I think that played into the mines going bye.

but I miss the old misslesilo days with the locking down in the room with 6546546135 mines on the door setting up a JP rush.... ahhh memories

    Thats it

I really miss those laser mines. They really were great in terms of atmosphere. It is just not like it anymore.
To be honest, they are the thing I miss most from 1.04. The only thing to be more precisely.
It was just awesome to boobytrap messhall with 20 mines and make it look like a lasershow.
I understand the reason for their removal, but they really made a difference for me.
However, just altering the model is lame. Their functionality that was the real kick.

    Rocked.

Btw, redford does have a point, but I doubt you'll be playing any CAL games with this plugin -- it dosent really matter if its on a pub or not.
