Are you ready for this? GameDAILY BIZ is saying that someone is suing 12 major game publishers are being sued for patent infringement. The 1988 patent covers “Method and Apparatus for Spherical Planning” which basically means the company holds the patent on a specific method of displaying 3-D images on a monitor. Ummm, what?
Texas-based law firm McKool Smith has sued 12 major game publishers and is threatening legal action against several smaller companies as well. Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, Activision, Atari, THQ, Vivendi Universal Games, Sega, Square Enix, Tecmo, LucasArts, and Namco Hometek are all named as defendants in the case.

By the way, I have copyrighted Reality®. You're all in big trouble.
Remind me of SCO of the Linux fiasco.
Filing for patents for just about everything, and never bother to actually develop anything. Proceed to sue the companies that actually innovate.
Go against the very idea of intellectual rights.
I swear to god if they win I'm going to the court and killing the judge. Douches.
I somehow doubt this is going to end well, Not while Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, Activision, Atari, THQ, Vivendi Universal Games, Sega, Square Enix, Tecmo, LucasArts, and Namco have "legal aid" anyway....

Yeah really. This like like the annyoing fat kid crying on the floor in Wallmart cause they won't give him a free chocolate bar.
They have flippin' ninjas in their legal department. And for all we know, right now they might have MonsE working as a merc for them, too.
You do not mess with ninjas led by MonsieurEvil in Bill Gates' mecha-suit.
EA, Electronic Assasins.

Well, they DO have an advanced training facility within thier heaquarter location...
A bunch of jibberish to me.
/Not a comp. sci. major.

"effectuate spherical panning"? With wording like this, it's no wonder they can't check whether the patent is something that already exists or can't be owned by a person.
I could probably apply for a patent on a "mounted apparatus effectuating reception of nonlinearly projected liquids" tomorrow, and I'd be able to sue every sink, toilet, and urinal-making company in the world.

Double Post!
And we all know MonsE is now tied to his sink as his wife is running the show now.
An ADMIN double posted?
I...I...I don't know what do to anymore...
MY WORLD IS SHATTERED! SHATTERED!!!!!!
EDIT: to validate this post, a sampler of tomorrow's headlines.
Breaking News: Man found beaten to death in partially burnt home, surrounded by a myriad of computer game CDs. As of now, there are no suspects.
Corrected.
And about MonsE's marriage: wife in charge or not, I say he's living the American dream. Youthful personality, history of directly working for his country for 6 years, memories of travelling Europe for a honeymoon, maintaining a professional-level education about computers & massive networks...if I had that much going for me and my wife made me do my share of vacuuming the house, I'd do it with a puny little dirt devil just to show how much I cared.
[edit]I can most definitely imagine Lawyer Ninjas sharpening daikatana CD's for use as throwing stars...but does that count as psychological warfare, or inhumane use of weaponry?
Something about that phrase makes me laugh really hard, maybe it's the mental picture.

I've had a really spotty connection to the forums recently, failing to respond and such. I blame the nanites.
That made my day. Seriously.
Well any gamer with a sense would die of shock at the sight of the CDs for the stock was destroyed after mass suicides after contact with the game.
Id count it as viral warefare since its only affective against certain people.
But then the physical aspect would also count.
OMG ITS THE ULTIMATE WEAPON!
Guessing from his posting activity, I'm guessing that MS have ME locked up in a dark room, starved and forced to drink "Sunny D". He won't need a mech suit.

You're right! He'll just be so angry at the SunnyD, he'll go back to being a mortarman!
I can see it now! (Ninja in paint image shamelessly stolen from Little-Gamers, which is about as "clean" a comic as Penny Arcade).
