neg, I'm fully within the rules to argue with someone flaming me. I haven't flamed you yet. I think you should just start to mature before this thread gets locked.

    WAIT

    I'll end it right here:

Dark: Im sorry, You're going to have to accept the fact that some people's opinions will differ. It doesn't mean jealousy. Your model's arent anything to be jealous of, sorry.

Bashh: You're one hunk of man-beast.

    funbags: Uh..yeah.

    ENDED.
  • DarkkizDarkkiz Join Date: 2003-05-28 Member: 16814Members
Ok, stop the OT. I'll answer Bashh though as he's not understanding.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->So he's jealous... because he doesnt like the judgement system?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Exactly. Instead of a fair judgement system he wants an easily manipulated voting system that only cares about the looks. No sane person would want that over a better one. Competitions are NEVER judged by a public vote(at least that i know of), simply because it's <i>unfair</i>. He wants to have a better chance of winning. That's why i think he's jealous.
  • funbagsfunbags Join Date: 2003-06-08 Member: 17099Members
No, I feel the public should be able to choose the model they want.

    I thought I ended this.

/me points to post above dark's

Heres my idea for the judging system.

1 or 2 Admins (with modelling backgrounds) Delerosa possibly

1 or 2 Modellers (ones with good knowledge NOT taking part) REDDmonkey?

    Flayra!!!......
  • Owen1Owen1 Join Date: 2003-04-13 Member: 15457Members
why not just put it to an open vote... make a new topic with a load of votes, and a render submitted by the modeller as a picture... i'll do it if you want
  • HellspawnUKHellspawnUK Join Date: 2004-08-07 Member: 30437Members
Hmmmm, an idea. How about an open vote AND a closed panel?

Kinda like what they do on TV. Lets the public vote then compare it to the judges. Which ever model appears top/highest on each one wins.

    C&C ?

rofl if we go with the judging, I vote flayra.

hehehehehehe that would give the winner something to brag about

EDIT: Hellspawn, I love you for saying the first constructive thing in 3 pages. That is a good idea.

    I'M SIMON

It's really up to chrono who started the contest adn delarosa who is giving the $20 prize (if anybody else is offering prizes sorry for leaving you out) should be the ones who decide if the vote is private or public.

Public is a much better vote because we will get a wide veriety of opinions that help the better gun win.

Being public only offers a limited amout of votes that can be be persuaded easily....

alright i read about half the posts after my latest one and i cant ready any further

i liked djpygons idea of the 5 admins 5 modelers and 5 regular players but since im thinking 20 judges would be more fair maybe we should get 10 admins/mods

there will not be a open poll as to the request of delarosa (he put the $20 so he gets to chose)

and to funbags and darkizz both of you shut up and stop argueing

I dont need you to come in and tell me to shut up, chrono. I took the initiative to end this, and darkizz kept on coming. Tell your friend to keep his mouth closed when us adults are trying to close an arguement.

Funbags, just stop it already, you're the one continuing it.

Chrono, that's a good idea, but 10 admins/mods is a bit too much. Admins aren't necessarily anything more than regular players to judge models. Just make it 5 like the others.

    1) The popular vote is NEVER compared to the electoral college vote. Each state is given a certain number of Electoral Votes based upon its number of inhabitants. The state casts its electoral votes for the winner of that state. This is the reason it is possible to win an election by electoral vote, but not popular vote (as will most likely be the case tuesday, but maybe not). If in the states that are won by one person, a majority of the people voted for them, and in the states they did not win, its a near tie, it results in an Electoral upset.

    2) 'Model' and 'Mesh' are the same thing. Take the time to look at your modeling program of choice, and choose to model in 'Mesh' form (for 3dsmax: 'Editable Mesh') This is the reason model and mesh are synonymous. 'Textures' or 'Skins' are what color the model. It's called a 'Skin' because it wraps the parts of the model, similar to skin on our muscles. Some people incorrectly refer to 'UVW Mapping' as 'Meshing'. 'UVW Mapping' or 'UV Mapping' is the process in which points in model-space are assinged to a flat area so that a 'Material' or 'Skin' will be correctly deformed over the 'Model' or 'Mesh'.

Btw: If you wonder what the origin of 'Mesh' is, it comes from 'Meshed, Meshing, Meshes' as an intransitive verb, meaning to
"a) To fit together effectively; be coordinated.
    b) To accord with another or each other; harmonize. " --Dictionary.com

Oh, and for those of you know didn't know, 'UVW' is 'XYZ' in texture space. Most modelers work only in 'UV' because it creates the flat surface that everyone is accustomed to.

Meh, didn't mean it exactly as the electoral college functioned, but the idea was supposed to be that the general population couldn't be entirely trusted in the presidential election. And I meant that instead of just having a jury, there would still be a popular vote, but I gave an example (not perfect, but to get the basic idea across), sorry for not making it clear enough, I'll just stick to short messages and TV examples next time.

You guys, this is sorta getting out of hand <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Why not do two winners - one for style/looks (decided by the general masses)
and the other for technical precision/difficulty. If the same model wins, better yet.

Saves all this nonsense and confusion - obviously only (proven) modellers could vote on the technical precision section, and would have to 'register' in this thread before being allocated to the panel. (any modeller that is at Chrono's behest, for example)

Hi folks! Nice to meet you all! Here's my entry to the contest. It's a Steyr M-"A2" pistol, A2 because i did some minor changes on the model so it don't really reflect some details on the A1. The polycount is atr exactly 2500, being 1996 the pistol itself, so i guess i'm over with it. Hope you enjoy!

    Here's the Pics:
