Not sure if this has been posted before or if I am in the right forum.
i want to play a game with 4 other people. We don't have a server and don't want to use one of the public ones. i created a server (using "create server" option on the main screen) but they can't join.
i have lasted metamod.
clear?

You'll need to install the latest metamod on your listenserver, but that should be about it.
heres a few reasons:
1) you have a router
2) if you dont have a router you have sv_lan set to 1, set sv_lan to 0
yes they can ping it. (at least i think... going to task them)
by ping you mean getting it to show a latency?
Type in 'cmd' and hit enter
This brings up the DOS prompt, or whatever XP calls it.
In the prompt type 'tracert <your ip>' and hit enter
It then shows the route a few packets take to go from your computer to the ip your typed. Of course 'tracert'ing yourself is pointless. Have your friends do this. And don't type in the apostrophes. I hope I didn't need to tell you that.
