    How are these things cheaper then the 9800 Pros/XT's? That's really wierd.

    But anyway, looks like a real nice computer. Good Job.

    the geforce 6600gt is known for being much better than the x700. this is acknowledged by all peoples, not just nvidia fanboys. my suggestion is that you get it instead. its the same price.

    also, i think that you should buy a separate power supply. getting something cheap like a $30 sparkle. it will make a much bigger difference in performance and lifespan

    Except there are lots of reports of nVidia having crappy drivers that degrade visual quality in exchange for fast preformance. Buyer beware.

    Tycho...both ATi and nVidia have drivers with options to do that, they both do it. Hell, they've done it countless times in the past, who cares?

    Crono....hahahahahahahahahah!

    Too bad you can't wait, the AGP flavors of the X700XT and the 6600GT are right around the corner, you could get a better rig by going the socket 754 (A64) route.

    Graphics cards are all good and nice, but can anyone back his power supply claim? I figured 450W was a good amount, but how might more power increase performance/lifespan?

    400w, 500w, 300w, it doesnt mean ****. a good power supply thats 400w can outmatch a generic 500w power supply. it all has to do with the amount of volts that can be put out at once with stability
    trust me on this.

    heres a link that shows <a href='http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=252752' target='_blank'>click</a>

    Anandtech owns all else, hands down.

    The wattage does not really matter, it's all about the voltage on your rails, particularly your 12 volt for your GPU. Go to Anandtech forums for advice.

    I'm pretty sure it was the X600's that the 6600's blew away... X700's benched higher than the 6600's IIRC.

    You're aware you could be running 2 computers off that aren't you? Realisticly, anything above 450 is far beyond what you would ever need for even an insane PC...

    Better to go for something that runs cooler than just to jump on a big number.

    I would highly recommend getting more than 1 gigabyte of ram. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I wouldn't, as long as you have more than 512, you won't knowtice a huge preformace jump for your cash.
