Hivebait needs help

<div class="IPBDescription">Can't join game</div>Can someone help me? I haven't played HL for a couple of years, so this is like starting over. I d/led NS from FilePlanet and installed it over the current version of Halflife like it said to. I start the game and everything looks right. I have an NS splash screen, I did the NS tutorial, etc. But when I go to join a multiplayer game, it tells me I need to be running the custom game ns. Yet as far as I know, I am! Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

    Sounds like you used the desktop shortcut.  Unfortunately due to oversight the desktop short cut doesn't work properly on all systems.  Delete that shortcut and use the one in your startup menu and it will all start working.

    Yes.  I had this problem as well.  Thought the game installed improperly.  And the filter system doesn't seem to work as it displays no servers running ns; ie I haven't played yet.

    Thanks, guys. That was exactly the problem. I'm now up and running.
