The water containers
I've noticed in a few movies (take "Speed" for example) as the cars are zooming down the road half the time they drive into these big yellow water containers just to the side of the road. What is the water in these things for?

    To crash into.

Seriously. Crashing into water is better than crashing into walls.

There often used in construction to help show that you cant drive there and the water is more of to help hold them down (or in my area)

Isnt that like the mounds of dirt they have across those big hills and mountain roads like if a car looses its breaks?

yeah those "runaway" ramps in high steep mountain highways if your car craps out on you

and .. the yellow containters full of water... are to stop you in a crash , ive seen a couple videos of people crashing into those, pretty neat sight

Yes, when exiting a highway usually traveling at high speeds, it is much better to hit the 'padded' water barrels than hitting the concrete barier behing them.

    Thi makes sence, rite?
