It's not just the education system thats lacking, it's the schools themselfs, things like bullying. I was bullied for along time and told the school time and time again and they did diddly squat about it. All they said was "we'll have a word" and it just made it worse. Just had enough and dropped out a couple of years back. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> I totally agree.
Bullying in schools today is just an everyday occurance. Theres nowhere where it isnt happening, and the education minister wants to know why kids skip school >_<
Bullied? I have.. The only way i sorted it was by introducing a cricket bat to his face during sports. Now? It's all cool.
Teachers introduce these Anti-Bullying legislations and they just dont work, and thats what is lacking in schools. The welfare of the students.
In college, you get treated like an adult. You should do in the last year of school tbh.
Well I learn more off the computer from my school (in states) and its one of the top schools in the country. Even thought I do bad over all in my grades if you look at each one you see almost all A's on tests and F's on homework becouse I find the classes so boring that I have no feal to even do the homework. Besides that half the homework in my classes is busywork. =/

Mmm. Don't get me started.
In short: Schools are not a waste of time, you have to apply yourself towards what you want to do and to ensure yourself a future. However, my teachers did little to help me, mostly they just lumbered me with nonsensical practice work.
Don't know about the UK, but I did the IB in France and I loved those last two years of high school. The work load was enormous and I lacked sleep most of the time, but when looking back it was a great experience. Plus I get to slack off in college here in the US <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
perhaps I'm too biased to get into this conversation as I'm in the process of getting a masters before I go onto another degree... thinking about MIT for that one.
Realschule or 2nd school like you would say was terrible. All the teachers were more concerned about all the idiots to be quite than teaching us anything.
My new school is cool. Learning programming and such <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

But I do agree that most of the stuff we learn is pointless, as I haven't had to use any of it, except for for my homework.
