Halo Clone For Ps2 People
<div class="IPBDescription">New Area 51 game</div> <a href='http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/area51/index.html?q=Area+51' target='_blank'>Boom</a>
I played the demo in this month's PlayStation Magazine demo disc, and it seemed like a clone of Halo. As a clone, it did pretty well, but there were some noticeable framerate drops.
They even had cut & paste level geometry!

With that being said, it looks pretty cool, even though it bears no resemblence to the arcade shooter Area 51.

You have to play the demo. Its setting is different, but the aiming scheme feels similar, the gun melee feels similar, the squadmates seem similar, the graphics engine looks similar, even.
And yeah, no resemblance to it's predecessor.
EDIT: Didn't DOOManiac do the MGS3 demo review? Back me up D:

Ah.
Penny Arcade strikes again!
It looks good.
Because not everyone shares your view of Halo?

I do, kinda. Halo's not that bad, it's just way overhyped.
seriously.. just becuase it has similiar things doesn't make it a clone, Halo didn't create hitting someone with your weapon, and other console FPS had similiar aiming system before Halo was created..

I've played the demo, it feels nearly the same.
It. Is. A. Clone.
Of course, it's not an <i>exact</i> copy of Halo, but it comes damn near close.
EDIT: Note the key word in my last post, "similar". It means "having characteristics in common". I didn't say, "There is aiming, so it's obviously a Halo clone."

Yes but every (good) game has a certain feel to it. When another game has the same feel as another (often better) game its seen as a clone.
btw am I the only one that thinks Halo kind feels like Goldeneye?

Kinda like that level inside the main complex where you are being chased by the flood (as freaking always) where the controls to activate Halo are?
Kinda like many of the levels?
Kinda like Halo?

Yes.
I do, actually, like Halo.
But much of that game was repetitive.
Also, JediYoshi - It's a game, they don't have to be practical, they have to be fun to kill. And yes, they are, but it's not as much fun killing in the same spot the second/third/18th time around. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(Please note: That third number may have been an exaggeration)
EDIT: But let's focus on Area 51.

:'(
It was bearable for all the people who didn't give up and quit at some point because they had already WALKED THROUGH THIS DANG ROOM AND LOOK A BAD GUY RIGHT WHERE HE WAS LAST TIME WOW DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING.
Almost no good first person shooters reuse geometry to that degree. Look at Call of Duty, Half-Life, Deus Ex, Doom, Doom 3, Dark Forces 2, or any other critically acclaimed game. They didn't make you do the same building backwards and forwards three times, WITH MULTIPLE BUILDINGS.
i like the whole game
it being repetative dosnt really bother me i find other ways to keep my happy [eg' going through half of the Assault on the control Ninja Stealth style and no matter how many times i play through the last level i never get bored and i think it has 1 of the best last levels in any FPS i played...as it dont involve some random boring boss battle
and i still play the multiplayer on XBC and at Halo lan events held by a friend of mine.....well until halo 2 comes..
