Newb needs help

<div class="IPBDescription">Setting up hlds</div>Okay, I'm running a win2k dedicated server, I've basically never attempted this before, though I have read a tutorial or two.  I've put "C:\Half-Life\hlds.exe -game ns -port 27105 +maxplayers 12 +map ns_bast -noipx" in the target for a shortcut linked to hlds.exe.

When I attempt to run the software, the following message happens and then hlds vanishes:

0.0 fps  0( 0 spec)/12 on

Try taking off the ipx tag, and try taking of Metamod first. Add Metamod after it works.

I had my friend come over and configure everything for me, so now I'm good. Everything running but Admin Mod which we spent a couple days tinkering with to no avail... oh well, rcon for me until it's updated.

Good & Plenty, now you got it up, can you tell me here (can be usefull for other NS noobs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->) what you did after unzippin' the servers files.

Like what is the good shortcut command line etc.

for the shortcut command I just popped in the path and -game ns, relying on my .cfg to setup the rest. AM didn't work so I got ridda' that and I'm not using HL Guard because of the power it actually takes to run NS. I'm basically using rcon commands and a fairly default configuration.
