Microphone problems

hmm it seems when i try to talk on the mic, i hold donw the talk button (k) and talk but people says it sounds like its choppy and my name flashes very fast. i hold the button down but it always does that. ive also configured the mic but it still doesnt work right. any ideas? i think it does this in other mods too but since NS has these uber coders and community, i thought i might cme here for help <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo--> thanx in advance <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    1. It might be your sound card, try adjusting the mic from that. (if you already have, try adjusting it from a .exe file called voice_tweak, usually in C:/Sierra/Counter-Strike or C:/Sierra/Half-life)

    2. It is caused by lag. (for me, it was clear one minute, then choppy the next.)

    3. Maybe something is screwed up with the listeners speakers or something. Type voice_loopback 1 in console, then speak through the mic. You should be able to hear yourself, and if its clear, that means its the other players problem.

    4. Some mics echo the sound coming out of your speakers or the wind. (you may ask, what wind? the wind comin out of your mouth.) In this case, you should get a new mic.

    5. Get a better sound card.
