    Spikes were about useless and spores do the job better. Now lerk has at least some chance of defending himself, although using it drains precious adre that is needed to escape.

    I think the obvious problem is that the lerk lacks a high powered sniper spike attack that has laser sight and a scope, but poor accuracy unless crouched, and always fatal with a head-spike

    Till then, they're pretty useless.     Could someone point out the flaw in the hypothetical situation posted above?

    When I spiked things, the PG went down in less than a minute. And if they want to use multiple people to guard me, then fine. I'm wasting their time. They can't even leave me alone for a minute or else the area will be taken over.

    This works best when they don't have grenade launchers or JPs yet. Give me spikes over bite or primal scream any day. Lerks aren't designed to be close combat units. Spore and spike all day to ruin the marine team's fun.

    Spikes were good, but they definitely cannot take down a PG in a minute. Unless you have 2 lerks, that is. They are good at killing marines from a distance, even heavies, though. Especially now that armour is totally stripped, leaving 100 hp 0 armour marines, spike would devastate marines. It's actually useful against heavies too, by gunning down weakened heavies from a very safe distance. (assuming your defence force consists of fades and hopefully an onos, not cannon fodder skulks).

    But I'd never trade spore for spikes though. It's just too damned useful, and the only way to break up a concentrated team of marines with the least effort. Spike could do that, but you'd get pistol whipped.
