My Ears...

Dying...
Due to viral infection, (tonsilitis? Who knows...) infected saliva has gone up the Estauchian tube in my throat and infected my ears. Left eardrum is ruptured slightly. It constantly leaks clear liquid/blood. Right ear is slightly better, less discharge. Everything sounds underwater accompanied by a high-pitched ringing sensation (constant) and loud things sound like when you turn the tone thing up too high on your radio so it sounds dodgy. Eardrum will heal by itself over a month, provided it doesn't come into contact with water.

Overall: :'-(

EDIT: Typo.

That sucks, I suffer from a condition called Tinnitus which means I have a constant ringing noise in my ears, so I feel your pain.

I had to have my right ear flushed once when I got mud right down against my ear drum. Yes I said mud.

my sister once perforated her eardrum during a scuba dive... not fun.

    I also suffer from Tinnitus.

Good luck recovering from your ear infection.

Which sort of reminded me....I once had an ear infection, and my right ear produced so much cerumen it wasn't funny. Eventually it healed, but it hurt whenever I yawned or burped, or had anything to do with air passing through my Estauchian tubes.

Ear infections are no fun at all.

Is this Tinnitus something you're born with? Is it permanent?

And Doc says I won't go deaf if I take all his drugs.

It's not really well understood, I've been told that it may be due to a vein being too close to my eardrums and what I'm hearing is the blood running through them but nobody really knows. However my mum suffers from it as well so it could be inherited.

I hope this ringing thing is temporary, then. It's been the same for the past 2 days...

And yeah, it hurts horribly when I burp, or yawn. Sneezing is the worst. Like having a cork in your ear and it ZOOOOOMING out. Except the cork is connected to a rope tied to your brain.

    I have it every day.

But then again, veins are popping around all over my body. I have veins appearing on my hands, vercose veins, veins sometimes popping out of my forehead....

Dunno. Could be that I really have a vein too near my ear drum. Though I wonder how it makes a ringing sound....

EDIT : Ack! That's exactly the same thing that I had....good luck going through the pain. You'll need to get through it or you'll go nuts, and it'll hurt even more.

Trust me, I did it the hard way

    You're lucky you got medication.

I had absolutely no medication and had to go through 3 months of pain. Pure utter pain. When the pain was gone I had to clean up my ear a lot because a lot of cerumen accumulated inside the ear canal.

So meh, ear infections == teh lewse.

What happened so that you couldn't have medication?
Oh and also balance issues. Almost-kill-myself-falling-down-stairs-counter: 6

I found out not long ago that I've had tinnitus all my life, without knowing it. Guess I thought it was normal.
But I only hear the ringing noise if I think about it, and I can sort of controll how loud it is. Either by thinking about it or by using certaing muscles in my face. (Increasing bloodpreasure in nearby veins?)
I believe the tinnitus is the cause of my lowered hearing ability, as it fits in to my hearing tests. My hearing is fine up untill higher frequencies, fortunately, so I don't have much problems hearing people talking. I've noticed the frequencies I have trouble hearing is the ones close to the ringing noise.

Sorry for my selfish blabbering. Maybe I should just stay in the dark shadowy corners of the forums as I usually do.

Not having good equilibrium will do that. Deep inner ear infections are the LOSE

    It's a long-story.
But if you want the short story, it goes like this :
Mom hears the word doctor, she goes nuts.

In any case, my ear is all well. In fact, it works better than before....that's the strange thing I noticed about it.

But after seeing that you fell down the stairs 6 times (I'm guessing 7 now anyway) I can guess it's a realy bad infection that's worse than mine. Mine never infected the inner ear.
    Get well soon.

Oh and BTW, I usually get the ringing sound when I'm in the cinema where it's all quiet. So....quiet....I hate quiet! At least have some sort of machinery make some light noises in the background
