2hr's 49 minutes on yo clan classic. ns_nancy. contention point was sub. we had a 4 onos rush on sub fall to the entire rine team with lvl 3 hmgs./ we thought it was over when the siege on port came, but a plucky skulk with a passion for advanced armories, phase gates and observitories took down the base by himself. they reloced to sub, aliens raped the resnodes. The battle himhawed between rines aliens for an hour, losing port hive on 3 separate occasions. alliens fortifyed mess and ms with tons of lame. marines never fully managed to break free of sub. game ended to a well synchronised ler/gorge supported 4 onos rush. i was leading the charge as we charged up sub hive passge under a hail of hmg fire. 4 devoured HA's and stomped Lights sealed our win. comm baconed 3 or 4 times for the laugh to finish a truly classic game.

    3 Hours.

It went smoothly first, our courageous commander led us down to maintanence on Bast. We successfully captured the Maintenence vents after some fearsome fighting. But, lo and behold, the aliens organized a very unexpected and undetectable raid on our base.

The IP went down in seconds, no time for redemption now. The commander, after he had learned what occured, layed down an IP and an Auxillary Command Console 5 seconds before his console fell to the onslaught. "Respawn meh!" he said in his dying breath, and turned up as "inactive" in our HUDs.

We quickly respawned him, strapped him into his chair, and our last stand of Bast began. We had one RT, we slowly recovered by laying down RT's at nearby nozzles and protected them as long as our soldiers could hold. Eventually we lost them, but not without successfully researching Prototype Heavy Armor.

We suited our marines as best we could, and was jammed into a dead lock lasting 2 hours and 20 minutes. We would stay behind a wall of armories, providing protection and ammunition, while popping occasionally only to fire off a few shots, them retreat back to weld our comrades.

At, last we won! The game time limit for the server went over, and we were proclaimed the winner of our strenuous effort.

Good few hours on ns_nothing, think that was one of the most consistent long-game maps.

Relocating to Power Silo, way up high for safety, and pushing backwards and forwards all over the map...that rocked.

Six hours? Or was it eight?

Too long. 1.04 marines set up a last stand in Maintenance hive after we started gaining the advantage. Siege, turrets, CC's blocking, everyone in HA with welders and nade spam... A server mod that made armories heal marines within 20 feet of them. Blegh.
  • Raven_NevermoreRaven_Nevermore Join Date: 2004-05-29 Member: 28996Members
    3.5 hours on ns_nothing back in 1.04.
Constant back-and-forth fighting four about 1.5 hours, then marines holed up in the red room. We could only get silo and cargo hives up, they would siege viaduct whenever we tried to build it. Somehow they kepy the viaduct resnode capped. Red room turned into a massive turret farm, guared by a few hmg-weilding HA's. We finally won with a coordinated attack. A fade and a lekr would get into the tiny red room vents. The fade would jump on the lerks back who would fly him up into the room. Too forever, almost had them about 8 times.
One of my most favorite games ever, only beaten by the time in 3.0 on eclipse where i encouraged our team back from a 2 hive lockdown with a sizeable base just outside siege range of our hive.

I think 6 hours on ns_nancy in 1.04. also had a 4 hours one on bast. Was alien on bast and marine on nancy (lost on nancy, won on bast).
Man, losing as a marine on that nancy sure was the best round ending ever, constant ha/hmg against constant onos, complete mayhem with nades and mines exploding everywhere.
1.00 was just either 15mins-2 hours or rines losing in 15secs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> either everyone was new and didnt know what to do or one guy was good and the game went on forever <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I still wonder why they wanted to changes the ns gametime to about 35 minutes. It should be tuned for 1hour+, id say as long as a normal SC round or maybe WC3, though i dont really know how long wc3 games are.

Nah, couple of JPs got in, while the hive was there mind you, and we constructed IPs etc up top. Couldn't do much unless you had a JP, but we had tons of res for some reason. RFK, heh.

Only thing that can get to you is lerks, basically, maybe the odd Fade. But then, back in those days Fades actually blinked, they didn't go "weeeeeeeeeeee look mom, I'm blinking!!!111" "No you're not dear, you're flying.".

We lost eventually, after taking and losing many a hive.

You, sir certainly would care about if this was your server some nutshell was messing up and spoiling your customers fun. People could think this behavior is tolerated on your server and spread the word, causing players to avoid playing there. I personally don't return to servers where have to deal with griefers.

i miss the old epic games. i think eclipse was a fantastic map for stalemates, the best kind are when neither side is crippled, there is just a balance for power. i think the main reason we are not seeing these is because of the new players thinking laming is such a cool fun idea. particularly holding off the aliens at MS on eclipse untill you have enough res for JP to sneak out of the vent at the back was fantastic. also on aliens, constantly sneaking and putting up hives, i think the most i put up (this is me alone, i wasnt the only gorge) must have been around 6, again on eclipse. the moral of this story : dont lame. learn to shoot.

p.s. i've played up to 4 hour games but im envious of that guy with the 12 hour game. that must have been freaking awesome.

i wish there was some kind of capability for seige maps. 2 forts MILES apart with cover for a little while then just a big open space in the middle. the kind where only an 1337 team of HA armor could win, or a well organised alien team sneaking a gorge inside. oh how i dream.
