These must be for the extremely new people.

So...they're pretty worthless to me, and I can't accurately assess the impact these articles will have on newbies.

You guys are awesome, keep it up!
I have the whole novice phase behind me but nothing can stop me reading those articles.

    No, they're for everyone.

    Did you even read them?

You know, defending gorges, parasiting marines, and attacking marine RTs are all pretty obvious to people who've played for a quite a bit.

And many of the people here have come from CS, so they know to listen for footsteps and various sounds that can compromise the enemy's position.

And if you need to tell people that leap helps them cover areas quicker and close the gap...then I'm pretty sure that your target audience is the newbie.

As for TheAdj's article, it brought up a lot of good theory, and it's an interesting read. It brings a massive spotlight on clan play, but I've already known a good deal of it. It isn't all obvious to the person just starting out, but your domain IS nslearn.org, so I'm pretty sure that you're aiming for the beginner, not the seasoned player.

And if you spout off "pub all star" one more freakin' time...

Way to freak out, by the way. If the...tone (how do you have tone in text, anyways) or my wording was a bit arrogant, I'm sorry, but the fact stands out that your site is dedicated to helping people learn situational awareness and common sense, people learn such things in NS over time.

take a single professional writing course and find out

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->the fact stands out that your site is dedicated to helping people learn situational awareness and common sense, people learn such things in NS over time.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    - your opinion is not fact

    - ask the people i've taught how to bunnyhop or fade better whether the things i told them are "common sense" or not

What the hell are you talking about?

You want me to take a <i>professional writing course?</i>.

Hey, I was commenting specifically about your skulking article (though I failed to point that out in my first post). This is a thread created solely to tell people that nslearn.org made two new articles.

    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->your opinion is not fact<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Well that would just defeat the purpose of calling it an OPINION in the first place, wouldn't it?

But I assume things such as protecting valuable assets and killing your opponents and/or their assets to help shift the tide of the game in your favor to be common sense.

You can't teach experience, mostly NS is just working under pressure (if you're a fade or commander).

The skulk article is aimed at newer players, while mine was aimed at people that are entering competitive play or have recently entered, yet have some problem with competitive commanding. Comming can become seriously complicated at higher levels, and some people need help understanding it. That's why I wrote the article. A lot of the stuff isn't meant to be new to everyone, it's usually just making something clear that someone may have understood, but not consciously thought about. The competitive comm guide written by seraphicx and anni talked about you facing the chair the side you enter on when you exit it. I knew that already, but I never really thought about it at all, it was like an instinct.

I always find the nslearn articles to be interesting reads at the very least. Thanks for the work you put into them.

And if you gentlemen want to snipe at eachother, do it in PMs. This isn't the place for it.

I'd also ask everyone to give me some personal feedback on what commanding article should be written, I'm writing a lerking article now and I want to get another commanding article up within the next two weeks.

TheAdj's article is a little wordy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> , but it brings up quite a few very important points that aren't usually talked about.

    Example:
Way back when, I noticed how big an impact morale had on the marine team by watching different commanders and taking note. A COMM that's cool under pressure, speaks in a calm manner, and <b>doesn't</b> use a lot of wishy-washy or negative "It think", "Maybe", "I don't know" phrases most often gets better performance from the team. If a COMM sounds defeated, the team loses faith and momentum. as well - basic sheep mentality.

I think both articles are very thorough and complete. Adj's article is more theory based, but it should be used as a tool to create strategies neccesary.

GG exi btw very good match.
