I'l second, er, 4th Radiohead. In fact, most of Radiohead's stuff is depressing, not just up to OK, Computer. For example "We Suck Young Blood" from Hail to the Thief, their latest offering.
A lot of people find The Smiths depressing. Personally, I think they're a fantastic band and often misinterpreted, but research into a song called 'I Know It's Over' by the Mancunian four piece. It's the track that most people find depressing by them.
However, I often find that the most depressing song you can listen to is wholeheartedly personal. A song which can make you break out in tears, could have the next person smiling haphazardly. It's all about how you feel and relate to certain tracks and artists.
The tracks which make me feel the most depressed are songs which remind me of personal sad moments in my life. For instance, the first song I heard after the death of my best friend will always be the saddest song in the world. However, ask the average Joe in the street what he thinks of the song, and he probably won't be able to find a sad tone in it.
something from Dream Theater: Disappear, Space Dye Vest, the whole six degrees of inner turbulence (mental insanity), Vacant and the followup stream of consciousness (which is instrumental).
oh man, do I love depressing music, some bands are all about depressing music, and every band has at least one depressing song in general, finding these one songs are a real challenge but are definately worth it in how they are so underappreciated, radio's only play the popular upbeat stuff most of the time
Radiohead, all of it is pretty much sad stuff Pink Floyd, classic rock with tons of depressing stuff Led Zeppelin - No Quarter , I do believe this song is the closest thing you can find to grunge in the 70's Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven , can't believe I'm the first to mention this Tool - No Quarter , showing how tool is close to their heavy metal roots, their verson is really good too Nirvana , all of it is pretty much sad, for gods sake the singer killed himself Freedy Johnston - Bad Reputation , one of my favorite songs Freedy Johnston - This Perfect World , song about sucide (I think). Incredibly hard to find, pm me on irc if you want it, song is brilliant Velvet Underground - Perfect Day , pm me on mIRC if you want this too, tough as hell to find Coldplay , 90% of their stuff is sad IMO Cold , great band really angry/depressed songs Adema - Giving In Adema - Immortal Adema - Promises Adema - Close Friends Adema - Trust Areosmith - Dream on , I can NOT believe no one else has listed this Alice in Chains - Frogs Deftones , every single one of their songs is pretty much depressing, but a really good one of theirs is Deftones - Change Bush - Mouth , there are two versions out there with the same name, one is original aucustic the other is modern, look for modern Bush - Inflatable (great song) Bush - Straight No Chaser Bush - Bonedriven Chemical Brothers - Where do I begin Creed - What's this life for Crossfade - Cold D12 - How Come , depressing song if you are into rap Dashboard Confessional - Vindicated Dave Mattews Band - Some Devil Dave Mattews Band - Grey Blue Eyes Dave Mattews Band - An' Another Thing Disturbed - Darkness , (really really good) The Doors - People are Strange The Doors - Riders on the Storm The Doors - The Crystal Ship The Doors - Unknown Soldier Garbage - Milk Foo Fighters - Times like these Foo Fighters - Walking after you Filter - Where do we go from here Filter - One Fear Factory - Resurrection Jewel , Pieces of You album is nothing but sad music I think John Williams - Schindlers list , dear god this is a masterpiece John Mayer - Not Myself System of a Down - Spyders Tool - No Quarter Linkin Park - My December

Heres one that hasn't been mentioned, probably wouldn't have been either. The secret track at the end of 'Jagged Little Pill' by Alanis Morrisette, to download you'll have to find Track 13, can't remember the name off the top of my head though. Its a beautiful track, just vocal and really gets to you (well, to me anyway).
Yeah, Moby's 'Why does my heart feel so bad' is cool too.
Saddest song of all time? 'Street Spirit (Fade out)' by Radiohead is definitely in the top ten.

Opeth write some of the most depressing songs, whether heavy or mellow.
Check out out anything from their Damnation album: especially "Hope Leaves" and "In my time of need".
Those who become interested might want to check out their heavier stuff.
