Mic Problems

voice flashes.
Yea, everyones seen or had this problem before.

I use the voice_loopback 1 command, to hear my voice comm, cause people said it sounded bad. So I did it, and alas, it does. I would hold down the voice comm button and it would flash, in 1 second incrimals. I wouldn't be able to hear my self while it flashes off.

I thought it would be rate problems, but when i net_graph 3 'ed it, i had 30 ms ping no choke or loss. and a frame rate of 100.

Can some one help me with this problem. It never used to do this with beta 4.

some of my friends have the same problem in ns, and i think the problem is related to your cpu speed. if you cant get a decent fps in ns then your probably not going to be able to have clear voice in hl.

I used to have the same problem, however, I knew it certainly wasn't my FPS. I keep a constant 60fps because of the vsync, so I decided to run around screaming hoping that would fix the problem.

Alas, it did not, and I tried something I should have done in the first place.

    I updated my soundcard drivers.

I have a Creative Audigy 2 Platinum, that I use for both gaming and audio apps. I was so mad, I mean spent all that cash, and the mic doesn't work?! I updated the drivers, and it seemed to work fine Maybe I didn't fix the problem at all, and just did something else before hand? Let me know what you guys did to fix it.

I have a similar problem, and I have the latest Audigy 2 drivers.

To fix it, I am unable to use any external voice communication programs while playing a Steam game. That means I can't use ventrilo/teamspeak with my friends if I want to communicate with my teammates ingame

I had the same problem, fixed it with increasing cl_updaterade and cl_cmdrate.
that increases packet sizeand the voice nolonger getssplit into tiny bits, but you get a 10% higher ping.

I just came onto the forum to find out the same thing, I am having the same trouble. I thought it was the dodgy mic, but I just bought a new one.

If someone could offer a solution.

edit: Try the updaterate and cmdrate, but it didn't really help.

here is the answer you all have been waiting for

    cl_updaterate 40
    cl_cmdrate 40

thats for broadband connections if you dial up lower it a little at a time

NOTE: If you join a HLTV server the server will set these 2 real low resulting in the poor mic so check these offten if you watch matches
