Just because someone enjoys an aspect to a game dosen't make it insult worthy. Ive had my hands on Half-Life 1: Source though I wont go into details because even the mods wouldn't believe my very cool story on how I did. Its basically Half-Life 1 textures/models/graphics, except it has Half-Life 2's physics engine, graphics engine and so forth. In other words you get crummy old maps and models and sounds with very pretty sparks, physics and shaders.

That'd be cool...

Like I said in that other thread, HL2 will be delayed some what. So please stop insulting me On a more serious note (calms down now) ... Valve should keep the rights technically, and VUG should just accept that. Just my opinion, because after all without Valve there is no Gordorn and no Half-Life. It would also mean HL2 ships alot quicker

And if HL2 isn't released soon, we could well end up seeing HL2 being 'leaked' to the public.
No, what you will get is a full on texture/model leak. That'll be impressive.
Valve definitely set far too ambitious of a release date for HL2, and the Source Code being stolen was a major setback. However, it's my opinion that we are getting that much better of a game because of it.
Also, you guys should probably note that it is the Source engine that was used to make Half Life 2. Source is still a top of the line graphics engine, and it's easily upgradable to newer versions of Direct X. Half Life 2 might not make use of the latest and greatest features of Source, but then again, Dooom III had no plot, not interesting story, and stupid AI. I'd rather take a game that doesn't use its graphics engine to the limit, but has an immersive world, plotline, and intelligent AI.
Half Life was groundbreaking for its time, and it was simply a modified Quake I engine. Even in its time of single player domination Half Life was not the absolute top of the line game graphically.
Half Life 2 will continue the strong single player tradition of Half Life, and Source will continue Half Life's mod community.

Also, about my dream world: First off, ever hear of a little project called "Internet 2.0"? Yeah. Universities have finished it for about a year now or so, and right now its too big of a system for regular users. But when Steam will probably be ready for the load- it'll be on your machine. Thats 9GB A SECOND of information. REALLY FRICKIN FAST. Imagine getting UT2k4 in less than a second. Ecstacy. And the fact that steam was DESIGNED to be the solution to publishers, I could easily see it working as soon as its ready. Hell, for games like Project Y, I'd be just fine with leaving my PC d/ling them if that means they could actually come out, being so many games are trying to find a publisher, but no publisher wants to pick up the titles, despite how amazing they are.

I'm siding with Vivendi on this one. Valve's attitude towards their publishers and indeed their customers has been disgusting, the whole way through (to say nothing of their actions).

Well the HL2 fansite forums are going crazy over this story, but lets wait and see. Valve are still working through the RC period and the ball isnt completely in VU's hands yet. These gamespot articles are nothing but scare mongering tbh.
Delayed Hl2 Makes for a not happy wolf :E Here's hoping it is just scaremongering, and isn't real... because I'm sure Vivendi CEOs taste quite nice with BBQ sauce *toothy grin*
I hope its delayed until december, that way I'll be able to play it on my nice desktop computer back at home instead of trying to run it on this crappy laptop.

Move to Africa and wait for a year and come back. Enjoy the tigers while hl2 is being hammered out. It's bound to come out, riggght???

Valve never hits release dates, they didn't with HL, why should they with HL2?
I doubt that Valve "intentionaly lied" to any one, as all that does is make em look bad when they can folow through.
Valve: OLOLOLOOOOO l0rTZz rel3aZE HL@@22@@!@!
Vivindi: KOKOOK OLOLOLOLLO MON3YZZ$$!$!$$!$!$!@!@!`1!~?~?~?
They would both end up with l0rTZz of MON3YZZ and they everyone would be happy.
