damn ruskies...
1) Highlights are still very baked on... does that mean we're not going to get accurate reflective highlights in-game?
2) There's a nasty looking seam half-way down the barrel in the rendered shot. You'd think they'd want to fix that before they showed it off... it'd take me 15 seconds with the "heal" brush in Photoshop.
3) There's also some pretty bad stretching along the top of the gun, especially back by the stock. Maybe it's because you'll never see it in-game, but come on. Consistancy counts.
[edit]I'm not trying to be a killjoy, honestly. It's just nothing I haven't seen before. There are hundreds of thousands of modellers on the web, cranking out M4s and Berettas and Desert Eagles by the hour. Quality is a simple matter of more polys + bigger textures = better looking. Your average CS skript kiddie could tell you that.
What impresses me? Lighting, dynamics, shader effects. This is the Year of the Game Engine. Weapon models have been done to death. People want to see effects that look real, characters that look and act real. I can't wait till someone makes a weaponless adventure game in the HL2 engine.[/edit]
My first impression was that it's pretty cool, but after looking at what coil said I'm inclined to agree
I'd take CS:S arms/weapons over this any day.
I've seen the stalker box (with pricetag and without "preorder now") in my local EB.

They've changed the once already... this one is a bit better.
Feel free to beat me with a flaming stick, but I actually think STALKER is going to be more enjoyable than HL2 if they succeed in bringing it to life.

nobody's going to beat you for speaking a perfectly valid opinion. i, for one, am much more interested in the military realism and real-life + sci fi atmosphere of stalker..
whereas HL2.. i don't know. i never enjoyed Half-Life, its plot, etc.
it's just personal preference, nothing wrong with that.

I'd say Grand Theft Auto is the PC's Grand Theft Auto, remembering where it began, and Stalker is more in the vein of Deus Ex and System Shock 2; a mouth-watering prospect.
