<div class="IPBDescription">Burnout 3 + Street Racing Syndicate</div> Wrar!
Good day ladies and gents.
I am here to give you my -opinion- on the two new PS2 games I got.
Lets start with "Burnout 3"
Pros:
- This game kicks butt from the very start.
- It's a great game for any kind of gamer.
- You really don't have to be good at a racing game for this, but it helps.
- Really great to let out some agresssion driving, especially if you live in Cali for example.
- There are no steep learning curves (unless if you are race game illiterate)
Cons:
- Music gets a bit repetive. (I honestly think there are only 5 songs haha)
- Gameplay can get a bit repetive as well. (Then yet, what game doesn't?)
Online play:
- I have yet to try this out.
Rating - 8.5/10
-------
Street Racing Syndicate (SRS)
For the first 5 minutes I played this game, I hated it; but I adjusted to it and learn how to drive in this game. It drives and feels like a Gran Turismo. Definetly NOT like Need for Speed: Underground where you have a lot more control in your car.
Think as NFS:UG if you want to do more crazy kind of stuff. Think NFS:UG as, well, Gran Turismo.
This game to me feels to be a mix of these games:
Gran Turismo, Midnight Club 2, NFS:UG
Why?
Gran Turismo - Car control and styles
Midnight Club 2 - The way you find races is very similar.
NFS: UG - The body kits, car detailing and ya.
Pros:
- Wide selection of cars. From Mistubishi to Nissan
- Good clean graphics.
- Feels some what more of a realistic street racing game.
- CAR DAMAGE
- COPS
- Legal races
- Street races
- When you buy a car, you can choose from: Auto, Semi or Manual. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Cons:
- CAR DAMAGE
- COPS
- Learning curve ( I always drive stick, so it may be easier for your auto peeps)
- Cars don't feel that fast when you are going 150 compared to NFS:UG
- Feels to be based around the "Ricer" aspect of racing, but so far my Eclipse is stock with a carbon fiber hood, new muffler and an AEM sticker on the left of my front bumber. So it isn't so bad, unless if you really deck it out.
Rating (so far): Between* 6-7/10
That's it for now.
Next game for possible review is:
Starwars Galatic Battlegrounds (or whatever the new one is. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
Peace
-oops
I totally forgot one BIG PRO about SRS - THE WOMEN!!
Real models from real street racing mags <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Comments
I assume burnout 3 will
I have burnout 2, and things blurred ever so slightly when you boosted, burnout 3 has gone the EA way, so expect much blur.
Note: i haven't played the game, i'm only guessing.
[EDIT:] Damn you Nirss, beat me to it <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
SRS has a blur too when you hit the nitrous, but i think it only affects your peripheal *sp* vision when you goose it.
Oh ya, imho. Between SRS and NFS:UG
Get NFS:UG or save up for NFS:UG2
Okay, i''m giving SRS a 8/10 now.
I just did a series of races.
And I noticed that on some of the series races, you might drag one car.
The drags are MUCH MUCH better than NFS:UG 'cause they go much longer.
After the series race and the drag ended. I left the crew area and was immediatly introduced to 3 police cruisers as soon as i pulled out.
Just happy I was on a freeway, got to 3rd gear, hit the nitrous got to 5th gear and lost them in about 5 seconds haha. ALl i wanted to do was repair my eclipse.
Now to buy either a RX-7, Supra or a 350z. Probably the Supra or rx-7 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It is drivable, but requires a lot of precision.
I'll try to message ya later on MSN man.
I'm kind of busy installing Star Wars Battlefront and SRS + Burnout 3 ^>^
I hope UG2 is fun. I played UG just like a month ago, and kept it for like 3 weeks(the game pass thing). I just could not get enough of it. Track designs were nigh perfect, cars were so customizable it wasn't funny, I loved it. The only thing I think really needed tightening was AI, and AI catchup routines- cause it doesn't make sense that one lap it takeas the AI 15 seconds to get through an area, the next time, when I'm 15 seconds ahead, it takes him litterally 2(I believe because they stop modelling the track at that point). But it was still fun <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and not forgetting the modding of your cars and the fact u can make you car look like one of those beast's off "the fast and the furious" or "2 fast 2 furious"

How far did you get in 3 weeks? Did you beat it?
The AI is fine in NFS:UG, they can keep up when needed. I've done all the races except for 2-3 of the drags on hard. *Damn that 350z* lol
I did the entire game with a tricked out Miata MX5 <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I was 8 races from the end.
And I thought the AI was great, just that sometimes they did stupid things(lets take the longcut!), and other times they seemed to "cheat" with how fast they'd gain on me.
I also find some of the burning lap challenges really ridicoulous, especially when you compare them to others.
but that nissan skyline is a beast of a car <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Burnout is a great game to start off with, but the unpredictability of the races begins to grate faster than you'd expect. All the cars feel the same, and it seems that races online are rarely about winning by skill, but by hoping you don't smash into another blind wall of cars on your final corner. It's still fun, but winning by being the better driver in games like Project Gotham Racing 2 just makes me feel better about myself. If I screw up at the end, it'll be because I messed up my line and not the result of a bus just happening to cross my path.
You all enjoy NFS? Eurgh!
Who cares though, anyway? Outrun 2's out next week! Nothing else can compare.
