Point blank comments work best for those of us unable to comprehend ambiguities and subtleties (particularly when they are completely unrelated).

Oh and...I think the point of your story was that the guy who was asking for directions was too stupid to buy a street directory? Is that it?

But anyway, back to your topic - I too would go for the genetically modified/enhanced silkworm-spun armour that they are drooling over being 'almost there' in today's late breaking research. I didn't understand this comment....

It sounds interesting to know but I want to know from the game itself. If you look at the game, the way the armor/equipement textures are made, what type of metal would the NS developement team were thinking when they made them.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Isn't NS 'futuristic'? Of course they are venturing into the future!
And - if that is the case - better armor = lighter armor and stronger armor.
That means that most metals should be cancelled out if it's in the future (although some metal can be very light) but the major benefits behind plastic or spun armor is that they are EXCEPTIONALLY light and strong. On a sidenote though - kharaans dont really have too many projectile weapons (other than the organic variety)- most of their attacks are actually slashes and stabs and whatnot.

So what would be the best sort of armor against bladed attacks?
I think in any case it would be far too difficult to distinguish these armor types in a model texture though (unless you were comparing plated armor vs. spun or something). Everyone's talking more about the theory behind it.

    Thx for the info.

Has there been any visual exemples of that "genetically modified/enhanced silkworm-spun armour" ? Seeing it would give me a better idea on the texture.

Yea your right about beeing too difficult to distinguish in a model texture. But its for rendering and besides I'm just exploring all available options about my project, including puting hi-res realistic looks vs plain gaming looks. It's a preliminary analysis.
