...all insects I've tried on die in just a few seconds if they just touch a drop of just about any liquid petroleum product(suffocate? Why not in water then, too high surface tension? Maybe soapy water might have the same effect?).

Could you hunt down entrances and flood them with like butane or even heavier gases(i.e. suffocate them)?

But if there's hundreds of them it stands to reason that he needs something more powerfull, like the fresnel lens from an old overhead projector(that's what there called in english?)

exactly how many do you ahve? i used to have the occassional scouting drone i'd have to flick away every minute, but if you've got entire crowds, goto the store and buy an anti-trap thing. it's basically poisened bait that the ants are attracted to and die after eating it. never worked too well for me since the ants refused to get it, but i only had a few.

I used to have ants in florida... holy. They never ever went away. We even hired exterminators, and they still kept coming back.

Try caulking the outside of the house instead of the inside. Look for long lines of ants that lead into your house, that's probably where they're coming from.

My solution was to move to Canada... so yeah.... Wanna join me?

I just had an Ant infestation. Your best friend would be a vacuum cleaner. I just follow the line, sucking them up until I found out they were coming from the window, I Raided that bad-boy. But chaulking up would sound good if there's holes in the walls.

Get a smooth sided bowel and provide the ants access to it so they can climb in then put some jam or something with sugar in the bottom. they will climb in to get the sugar then get trapped.

Make a few traps like this near where you see the ants most. After a while you will run out of ants to trap.

Live amongst them, learn their customs and ways, and sleep with their women. Soon your differences will be forgotten.

(I had to get there first)

Try putting this grain ant-poison all around your house. When I arrived here in Florida, it was bad, but if you circle your house with poison so they can't come in without crossing it, they should go away. I don't know how, but one time, I opened our dishwasher (with some dirty dishes in it), and there must have been a thousand ants in there. Oh well...

Based on the numbers you're talking about I would guess the nest isn't outside the house or problably just outside it or something. Anyways, traps will bring down thier numbers tenfold... if you let a few escape (IE, make a bowl full of suger, and after a few have come and gone back to the nest then you fill it with jam, or wine, or something else that once they go in they won't come back out, but you need to let them inform the hive where the new foodsourse is )

[edit] calking won't work, they will just find/make more holes. Riad will work, but you need to find the nest first, which can be really hard to do (the first hole they go through is probably not the nest hole)

Sometimes when we want to find out where those Pesky Kharaa are we send out a lone marine for Onos bait. Then we tail the beast back to his hive lol.

Then we come in with the anti alien spray, (which happens to be hot lead)

heres what i did for ants.... get those little traps, the little pancake things with the holes they go into... and put it by where they come out of... from under the carpet or whatever

then when the ants go in there they do something... they get food out of it or get poison on their body then they go back to the hive and poison the rest of em...

leave it there for a few days and your set prolly.....

that or get a microwave gun and blow em all up thru the walls
