No, it shouldn't, especially since it doesn't meet the minimum requirements. A computer that's four years old is a boat anchor. Can you play Max Payne?
yeah, and Gore and all the other new games comming out that I've played some demos of. AVP2 seems to be the only game that actually lags on my computer on single player mode.
My computer is from 1998 aswell, and i can only play Max Payne on the lowest res, using 16 bit colour and all settings on low, and even then it's damn slow in large areas.
I have a late 2000 comp and it runs avp2 like a dream. I think it ALMOST up to scratch with HL. I use the ingame server browser BTW, never could be bothered with gamespy/allseeingeye. And to Comp, the X-Box is Microsnot. The X-Box is a bit desperate for games and Billy-boy is going to throw as much cash as he can to fox in the potential Fox Vs Flayra case. I am afraid to say, if there is a court case, and assuming no massively public "Feel sorry for the underdogs" theme, NS WILL go down.
More off-topic stuff: My computer can run stuff like Max=Payne, Warcraft 3 Online beta and all that with almost full settings, yet playing AvP2 demo online *shudder*. It lagged worse than a 286 with 2.4 baud modem! I tried fiddling with settings in it, and nothing helped. Meh, guess it doesn;t like my setup, but I got my wall climbing in NSTR2 now, so who needs AvP2!

What is your video card. That is one of the only things that determines whether or not you can run a game. The AvP2 Lithtech engine uses multiple textures per face, to give some hallways the effect of reflections, and some cards can't handle it.
I have a Ge-Force 2 GTS 32meg asus v7700, a fairly old card. I am playing through the marine part of SP and I noticed a tad of lag when about 12 drones were leaping, hacking and slashing their way towards me. It was barely noticeable, partially because I was so freaked out. OT: I took FIVE, yes read it again FIVE, drones with ONE grenade. Talk about satisfaction, KABOOM!! Splatter, patter, thunk and splish. Of course it didn't stop their friends flying out of the acid vapor, the proxy mines did that :-).

Regardless of the amount offered, if NS were somehow 'sold' to ms, I would immediately retract any and all of my contributions. Yes, I feel that strongly about it.
If NS were handed over to MS or some other corporate entity, most likely it would lose everything that makes it so enjoyable in favor of "profit". This mod will be so good because, as they say, "it's a work of art" and not simply a commercial endeavor.
hmm it's maybe a work of art, but i'm sure the team wants to make some money out of it, though not their prime target. I think they want to maek the mdo as good as possible, so they can release it as a stand-alone product aswell.
If anything I think it should absolutely be released as a mod first....that way if it ever does become a retail item under some big publisher, the company can distort and pervert it all they want, and we'll still have our public-domain mod version of NS. Kind of the way CS has developed.....they are still putting out new versions for their mod (1.4) but at the same time have made a deal for a retail release of the game (Condition Zero).
