Strats For Dealing With Armoury Hupers

1: please unless your uber-1337 and go go on 10/1 kill streaks regulaly as a ninja, dont get more than 3 clips with an lmg

2: what are the best ways of dealing with those that ignore part 1?

    recycle the armory if it is not upgrading. I say go to a hive, then i give them an armory there after they build me some stuff, and get me rts. but an armory in base is asking for trouble a lot of the time in the first parts of the game. pub games can be won or lost within the first 3-5 minutes, so don't let them waste time humping away

    Play on better servers. Too much effort to go through recycling/relocating armories.

    block the armory with cc's. also make sure other buildings are far away enough so they cant be used as steps. (although i doubt the general armory humper will have enough wits for that)

    if FF is on, drop yourself a shotty/hmg and if u see someone humping jump out and blast him. downside for that is that its highly likely some other nub will jump in the chair and proceed to wreak havoc in your base =/

    Well for one

    1. it prevents the very annoying (and devestating) telefrag when you are going to get ammo

    2. if you put the armory near your "secondary base" like say you are in ns_hera reception room and have double. Put the armory in double. Marines that have to walk to get ammo at a waypoint are more apt to do something when they get there.


    When I relocate (part of my usu strat as I dislike MS bases), I will not drop armory until after the RT round up has begun and the new base is going up. I always prefer and ElecRT-Armory-PG combination (called ERATPs by me) over turret farming. (usually try to mine the ERATPs as well)

    Ninja PG craziness, definitely need the phaseEQ plugin as I do often have a ERAP at every res node where there isn't a base or it isn't double. (double depends on a lot of factors)

    The fact that you even have a strategy like that means you're clearly dominating the alien team, in which you should just take down that one hive you've kept them at for the past 30 minutes.

    Jeez, finish the game, don't have elaborate strategies that you can only use when you're marines were dominating the game in the first place.

    The most important thing is the one I stressed in red, do not put IPs and armories near each other. You may think it's funny when your marines get telefragged but they'll hate it and if they are HA's or something it's gonna cost you res as well as morale (in human resources).

    Other than that, just drop armories as you need them. The best defense is a good offense and the best way to keep that offense strong is to keep a good supply of ammo. IF your marines are having to fire a lot and are at some point where their progress is being slowed, drop and armory and save res on having to equip ammo. Don't be afraid to drop multiple armories, just remember to recycle the useless ones. Use wisely.

    You dont need full ammo, but 50 extra rounds arnt gonna cut it if youre gonna go out of base (IE res capping, attacking, ect, ect thats outside of base)
    so is getting to 100 ammo so you dont bug the comm after the first skulk that you need ammo considered armory humping?

    having 100 extra ammo(two clips) is fine, espesially if you can actually kill skulks, but the people who are 1/8 who load up on 250/50 are the problem.

    when i find a humper i just recycle the armory.

    hide one someone where in the map, get it upgraded and hand out ha/jp/weapons there

    Devs should add a reverse electrification process. It's not an upgrade but an option on the armory where if you turn it on, it will electrify all marines within its close proximity. It won't do damage to aliens since people will just build armory walls. So if a Comm wants everyone to go through a PG, he'll just beacon, turn on the humperzapper option, and either marines die a the armory or die at/kill the hive.

    For pubs, it might be nice to be able to turn off the free ammo. Many will claim YOU NEED BETTER MARINES. but sometimes, you just have to deal. Or a setting that won't let you get ammo until youve killed a skulk or 2.

    Problem with stuff like that is it makes it more complicated for the commander. And flayra has said many times he wants to keep it simple. or as simple as possible :-p

    Theres really little to nothing you can do about armoury humpers. Its pretty much part of the game. I usually drop an armoury if I have enough res at the hive I'm assaulting, but you'll still get humpers.

    I usualy will just place armory around the map, and then i get a humper maybe 1/100 of the time. plus, dropping sgs not at base realy helps modivate the marine team to be where teh sgrs are. Think of Dropping Sgs where you want them to be like becon is for dogs

    Placing armories around map is really really surprisingly efficient you can drop sgs virtually to any place with in 10s + you have those sgs dropped on field. Just played one game of origin wiht 0.75:1 KD ration rines and i had outpost to the rt next to mess with armory, I think that the simple 10res armory won the game. they had filled the room next to port engine with oc`s and dcs and while fighting over bile-siege i didnt have _single_ med ammo request from there in 10mins. That was once again really good game you get one of those in week and thats what keeps you in game...... <3 to win with bad rines vs 2hive aliens. AT the end of the game there were this one guy asking: How the HE## did we win that one!

    nice one about the sgs in the field. must try for that. armory humping is one of the most annoying things a comm has to put up with. i think that you need to have the patience of a saint to comm a game with more than one humper on your team.

    125-150 in the LMG at the beginning of the game and then thats it. no more do you require. bug the comm for ammo in the field. expect that by the time you die, the comm is ready to give you sgs and other funky stuff. I once took out four skults at double resource in tanith with only a 100 in the clip. you dont need more than that. now if only someone will tell the rest of them that.

    No way to really solve it, people just think they need all this ammo. Humping armories in the beginning of the game is by far the least annoying. Its when you are yelling PHASE PHASE EVERYONE PHASE! at a crucial moment in the game and people are humping armories. Thats when it really drives me crazy.




    Edit: I just realize how old my forum account is, those were fun days back when NS first released! Where armory humping was well, fun!

    I just repeat "get off the armory" until everyone leaves it, or I get a few stragglers, in which case I call them out by name and tell them to get the hell off the armory. Calling people out by name and reinforcing that you can see them doing it usually makes people stop. "Hey <name>, YES you that just stopping humping the armory because I said your name, go through the phase, stop humping the armory every time you spawn". Continually repeat until they listen or are blatantly stupid, in which case don't do anything for them the rest of the game, because they're useless.
