<div class="IPBDescription">Very interesting..</div> Dangit, my old account isn't working for some reason! >.<
I've finally came back to the NS community after about a year or so, and I'm still trying to take all this in.
Some of you know me from the past, others don't and I won't say what clans I have or have not been in, because I don't really know what you classify as being "in." Theres been some that I have been tagged with.. but not in a league.. or in a league, and never scrimmed.. or scrimmed and never played.. etc, etc. I'm just real happy to be back in the NS community, and I have to say it's been pretty interesting.
I went in and out of Beta 3 some time ago over my nephew's house and was completley suprised in the changes that occured. It wasn't until early this morning that I picked up the mouse and actually started to play again. I've spent the last few hours in the wonderful hospitality of "TheGamerPlanet" server with Sinivar who I can slightly remember from quite a while ago, and two friendlies PsiRedEye and Krispy Kreme, both in Phobia.
But heres what I'm really trying to get at. I lived in an NS day in age to tell your children about, one of comraderie and brotherhood, NS in it's prime. Many of you know what I talk about, when NS was full of the warm-hearted people that made NS into what it is today.
My message to say here today is, despite some of the topics that I've seen floating around infrequently, NS hasn't really gone bad. Now you might be thinking, "Wait, he's only spent four or five hours playing the game in a long time." Just think for a second, yes Onos is now 75 Res. Yes, it's no longer the 'forbidding antechamber', yes you can no longer weld our favorite vent on Nancy.. things have changed, the gameplay has changed.. but the community has stayed the same.
Obviously, with the time, old veterans have left, the first NS leaguesters, and the first NS clanners and mappers and countless other contributors have probably passed on from NS by now.. there are different people. But the attitude is the same. I came back on about three different servers, I must admit the people aren't as welcoming, but just like the olden days, once you get going, it's a world of fun to play with great people still.. And now I think to myself, with all these huge gameplay changes occuring, and so many leaving, why not stand up for what we still have. The NS Community is one of the strongest, most mature and fun-loving HL mod communities there are. And I'm so glad to be a part of it again. I really hope NS has more of a bright future with the launching of this Unknown Worlds Entertainment shennanigans (that will be pretty brilliant to watch.)
I hope to play with many people, old and new, on NS again and I hope that I can establish more friendships with such great NS players of this time. I'm home.

Let's start dissecting this vision of yours one by one.
One, you have two posts.
Two, your name is urinal cakes.
Three, I've never heard of you.
Four, if you're concerned about being "in" in an internet community, well, it speaks for itself.
Please someone mod me for flaming.

Secondly, Urinal-Cake is one of my many names, kingphreak (ask boboflust), gorge-of-the-jungle, etc, etc.
Third, you've never heard of me because I've had enough names in the past. Enough.
But I came here to reenjoy NS, not put down my resume, and for some reason your more concentrated on that, then returning NS members.. because the way I see it, we're losing some people day by day, I'd welcome returning or new people.
EDIT: Better yet, if I could get this named changed.
way to prove your n00bness, cam. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Oh and don't mind Camo, someone forgot to put him on his leash.
Just be glad he didn't get a chance to hump your leg...
/me cringes at the thought of his last Camo+leg encounter.

You have the absuive admin server, the same clanners who dominate the clan scene (although that's in limbo right now), the same types of forum mods, the same flayra, and the only thing that's changed is the balance.
False statement, the NS community has definitly changed since 1.04. It's commonly thought combat has caused this since it's introduction. And I can't really dispute it. Further more alot of 'old-skool' players have left the scene after witnissing NS being turned upside down with 2.0 and 3.0. Certain server community's have died down (WarServers to name a popular one) as well since 1.04, wich again caused some players to leave due to the small number of decent servers remaining.
(Mind you, i'm talking about the European NS Scene, but undoubtly the same occurances can be observed in the US NS Scene.)
These players might be replaced by other decent players, but it's rare. What we're looking at now, is people leaving the NS scene (for whatever reason), and other people entering it through the combat backdoor, wich IMO, is a bad thing.
probably.. heh.
I honestly don't know why I have 7 posts.. I used to have about 540 before I started to drown out.. I dont think it was on this account though..
Oh well, start off fresh.
And who is one of the new mods that I can PM for namechangeage?
Used to be just straight up Nemesis, but my man is now busier now from what I hear.

What you're doing is looking in detail at the individuals being circulated through the mod. In general, however, the community has retained its stigmata and mindset throughout the versions. So, on the microscopic scale the community may literally change. On the larger scale, the community is staying pretty much the same - perhaps with a bit of a decline overall.
For instance, I eat spagetti and... do............ stuff...........
