<div class="IPBDescription">oh so gorgeous...</div> This was mentioned months back, when they jsut had artwork and things, but they have a playable beta, that is more close to an ALPHA than beta release.
However, the concepts are there, and the visuals have to be seen to be believed. Seriously incredable.
And the melee combat is quite interesting to see. Its very innovative, a bit rough, but quite cool to play with.
Like I said, very beta, but if you want to look at the best looking UT 2004 mod out there, HANDS DOWN, go check it out...

edit: since the first image went *POOF!* I am adding this as a penance...

<a href='http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=144868' target='_blank'>This</a> should be the alpha, but I can't test it now so I can't say
christ sakes folks, you cant type in this on your own! It was on the picture... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If you head to planet unreal, yesterdays news has the link to the beta download if you cant find it on the Eon site.

What picture? the one that says user posted image, but really isn't an image at all?
<b>edit:</b> lol! this thread is getting replies so fast I'm getting outdone =3
Beasts do damage with their attacks but also by running into humans, and bowling through a group of Legionnaire's as a huge orange monster knocking everybody about is pretty cool. You also take damage from hitting walls as an alien however.
The humans only get Legionnaires and their antelope mounts (again, ala Princess Mononoke) haven't been implemented yet. The Legionnaires get a long rifle with a 9 bullet clip and a sword/spear thing.
The melee system (both Legionnares and Beasties) is pretty strange and you really have to play the game to understand how it works, so won't bother trying to explain it. It has a few kinks but for a very first release that's understandable.
but I have to mention that as a Beast you can drag your victims off into the woods and feed on them. And seeing as how the camera is attached to the Playermodel, this is very graphic and satisfying at the same time.
This is definately a MOD to watch. If you havent got UT2004 yet, you as a gamer have failed.
Also, use the human character, his melee attacks are animated right.
edit: btw, if you are a shrike, try jumping on them pesky humans for some Super Mario style kills <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Example: A shrike is in front of me, and I decide I want to stab it. I hold down the attack key and move the cursor to the top of the circle, and i swing the sword in front of me slashing the shrike on the face. If the shrike were behind me I would move the cursor down to the bottom of the circle.
Again I'm actually not positive about the direction thing but I'm guessing that's how it works.
Might have to give this a shot after all; I was thinking of just waiting for some more stable builds before trying it but you've got me curious =3
Pshaw. Old School All the way. UT2004?I like my games with some story. Like SS2. Now THERE'S quality gaming right there. My friend played it last week(he's used to modern graphics), when he was over at my house, and after he got past the bad graphics (for our time), he was terrified. He ended up holed in a corner, muttering sowthing about "monkeys" and shooting off his pistol at the slightest sound. Good times. Not that I won't get UT2004 eventually, but Fable's coming out tommorrow or the day after?, so I'll be living at my friend who has an Xbox's basement.
BACK ON TOPIC. Man, the graphics look amazingly good. Infact, they are both great and good. The ability to shoot muskets while on an antelope is oddly entertaining....
/me emos
"quick! he's coming! hide!!!"
I'd download and play but I've got work and it's late and my right hand is still sore and slightly bandanged from the whole falling down stairs incident ^^;
None of the screenies would be as interesting as what you can get off of their website, what with the missing antelope and no people.
3 mins to go <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It is. If you wanna test it, select the rifle dude, switch to 3rd person view (toggle is F4 I believe) and test every direction available. Youll see he swings his blade thing in the appropriate direction. Also, when I tested it on the bots, they seem to be thrown in the proper direction too.
