That was extremely cool. This officially just beat any other game for "ooooh, that has to hurt" moments. Also shows that little additions like cover can add tons to games.

Upgrading you squads can give you a huge advantage and don't forget to research their accuracy upgrades. Each marine squad can have 9 total people in them. 8 marines 1 sarge. And that's plenty to deal with orks provided you have 2 squads or a few flame throwers in the mix. The only time you need a crapload of marines is when you fight Squiggoth and the warboss. For them I recommend heavy bolters and plasma rifles <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Personally, I'd never mix missle launchers with HB/Plasma. If you need to take out a vehicle, those HB/Plasmas will do nothing. Because the demo is against orks, have 1 group mass HBs, and another group mass missle launchers. Scouts with sniper rifles are better for breaking morale (not played the demo, so not sure if you can get them). You need those missle launchers to take down that Squiggoth. Nothing else will do the kind of damage you need against any super-unit. Don't think missle launchers knock down Warbosses unfortunatly.
Don't discredit the plasma rifles so quickly <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->. They're awesome for chasing down those fleeing nobs if you don't have any dreads on hand. I always have one squad with fully equipped rocket launchers though. I mix my 2 hero squads to add varied firepower. Good at against all but best against none so to speak D:. And if worst comes to worst I just call in my assault marines to melta bomb the vehicles then have them flee to my line of marines.
That demo was great, much better than the beta which was pretty much just a multiplayer test. (I don't like RTS games online)
It looks really nice, plays just as most other RTS games do but somehow, it's better. Little things like when a dreadnaught is fighting a squad of orks, occasionally it'll pick one up, crush it and toss it's corpse away, or like when a squad gets caught by explosive fire rather than just taking damage it scatters the squad, throwing the bodies around, very cool.
I'm definately going to be getting this one, finally a Warhammer 40K game worth the license. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Looks like fun, and I've been dying for a good RTS for some time now. Even though I know nothing of Warhammer 40K.
Edit: Great fun, and great graphics <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Currently on the DOW beta forums, i think there is now their version of "scopion that hovers" post (but I think only 40k Fans would get it...hehe)

I feel that gretchin should be upgradeable so they can carry lascannons. They should also be able to have a "uber gretchin" unit, like a gretchin nob that can have powerclaws and better armour and kick **** in HTH. And maybe some kind of "flight" abillity so they can land on top of the dred and shove grenades down its face.
All of this should enable the gretchin to better handle themselves against the dreadnoughts.
otherwise, its GG gretchin.
And thats bad <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
