Seriously are catpacks effective enough to give you a good chance of taking the hive?

In a large game equip 4 guys with GLs. Give them cats and have them run in, blast hive with 4 lvl 3 nades. Have them run out to reload, weld and be medspammed. Repeat untill hive is dead - it won't take long. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Use catpacks along with shotguns to speed up how fast the hive dies. Several shotgunners with catpacks that focus fire on the hive will drop it ridiculously fast. Also you can hotdrop catpacks on marines that are fighting fades and watch how fast the fade dies, given marines can aim. Even good fades fear marines with catpacks, because of the murderous RoF shotguns and hmgs have with a catpack.

OMG this one time at NS camp I was playing as marines on eclipse, we had a two hive lockdown, and we were gearing up at the base with HA and shotgun (Ghetto Tech) but the aliens had fades and an onos and were clearing out one of our hive outposts. Our commander says, "Forget the CC outpost, hit the EC hive!" So we march over there and things are looking scary because the onos has almost eaten CC and the EC hive is protected by multiple WOL and sucidal skulks, then just when it looks like the aliens might come back the comm drops cats on us and suddenly my gun is firing like wild. I'm just aiming and skulks are dropping left and right. Cat turned the tide. We took out their hive as they took out our outpost and the end result was dead aliens! If you got the res, drop the cats!

Cat packs allow marines to take down RT's faster with the knife before a skulk can come and own them.

IMO catpacks last too short of a time (8 secs i think) to be effective and are only great for taking down hives. Plus, since catpacks don't affect reload speed, so you're pretty much dead as soon as you run out of ammo. I've never seen a comm drop cpacks to take down aliens at all as the regular speed of gunfire is usually enough to deal with such threats.

Teching armor 1 first -> weapons 1-3 -> armor 2-3 is a better idea. Catpacks and nades should only be researched as a last option if you have plenty of res.

I know that if they have onos meh is dropping drugs for all the rines to swallow. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
