ok I use hlds. when I start a NS server I dont see it unpacking files like with TFC or Globalwarfare. is this right? server seems to work just fine but just checking cuz it is something I dont see. thX

You might want to create an autoexec.cfg file and put "log on" in it. That way log files will be created. Also, you will want to put in "mp_logmessages 1" in your server config to log player chat and such.

I had allready dunn that. just when I start server it dont un pac any files or anything. not something i'm use to seeing.
