Tribes 2 Troubles

<div class="IPBDescription">Installation issues</div> Ok, I got a CD key (fileplanet), I got the install (trivbes2_gsi.exe)

I run the install and it gives me an error - I am out of disk space on my C:

That is cool - I partitioned it small, and I want to install it on my E: - but there is no way to "point" tribes to my E:

How do I do that? The install doesn't let you choose your own drive!

Any help would be much appreciated.

    As for insufficient space on C: It's not installing it on C:, it's just extracting temporary files. So you should either free up space or set the temp folder to a partition or disk with more space.

    As for the CD-key, my cousin sent them a nice e-mail, and they reset the key for him within a few hours.

    You MIGHT fix it by changing the temp directory to your E: drive (assuming that the installer uses the windows temp directory and not its own). Change the TEMP env variable ("System Properties->Advanced->Environment Variables" on XP) to somewhere where you've got loads of space. Again, it may or may not help.

    Except by and large we're much more helpful here.

    That being said, the only solution is to format.

    i hear that you should leave at the very least, 500 megs spare on your c:drive coz thats where the page files and recycled data goes, any less and you could severely slow your machine down.

    Yeay, learning experience for me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well, I cleaned out a bit of stuff, randomly deleted a few more files, and the I noticed this:

    hiberfile.sys

    now, hiberfile.sys is used for "hibernation", and takes up ~500 mb of space all the time. So, how do you get rid of such a file? delete doesnt work - access denied, etc.

    You have to go into Control Panel/Power Options and uncheck the "enable hibernate" box. that automatically deletes the file.

    So, there you have it - ~500 free mb in 1 shot.

    In other news, I learned to tie my shoes. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    if your useing a laptop it would be bigger...
    trust me, you dont want to get rid of it, even though you never go into hibernation.

    Umm.. that hibernation file is equal in size to your RAM, since all hibernation does is dump RAM to disk. Therefore if you don't hibernate, you don't need it. Voila. Turn it off, install Tribes, turn it on again.
