please correct me if i'm wrong, but i've read that, in all cases, HL's max frame rate remains 100 at all times. developer 1 doesn't "uncap" framerate at all but instead displays a fictional number
also, I believe meb is a prime example of a "default" or "manual" bhopper who clans if you wanted one
It doesnt matter what you set your MAX framerate to, because its still gunna fluctuate (due to rendering speed) a little, as you bounce through the level and go from seeing lots of marines to few of them, or lots of explosions to few of them.
The solution of course is to turn your framerate max down to some awful number like 30, so that you are guartineed 30 fps every second, and then bhopping manually becomes a little more of a sure thing... but you lose anyway cuz your framerate sux.

I think the general consensus from people who actually know what they are talking about is that the answer to this topic is that a triplejump script helps bunnyhopping in the same way that binding jump to the mousewheel does.
In other words, it makes it possible.
Without either the mousewheel or a triplejump key, you're just jumping side to side while running.
Bhop is one part jumpspam, and one part technical skill. You have to know the motions to make with your mouse and strafe buttons, which AFAIK, cannot be scripted, or cannot be scripted well enough to copy manual mouse movement. So the part of bhopping that requires technical skill is not and cannot be scripted.
There is no script that allows anyone to just hold a button and magically traverse the map in ten seconds. It doesn't exist. There are no simultaniously working and useful "full bhop" scripts.
The only issue about scripting to bhop is the jump-spam aspect. And since anyone with a mousewheel has what they need to bhop, the issue of using a script to trigger multiple jump commands is a non-issue. It doesn't matter. If someone is using a mousewheel or a script to bhop, they are getting the exact same results. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE, IS IT?
Some people would like to continue using their wheel for weapon selection, for whatever reason, so they need to use a script to make bhopping possible with their key config. I have no problem with this, since you still need to know how to bhop even with your shiny new triplejump script. A triplejump script is as useful as the person who uses it. If you don't know how to bhop, having your spacebar put out three jumps instead of one won't help.
So what the issue here is really about, since it's obviously not about the validity of substituting a very simple script to bhop without using the mousewheel, is the issue of bhopping in general, and whether you believe something as simple as bhopping should be difficult or easy or even in the game at all. That's what people are REALLY talking about here. I just figured I'd clarify this for anyone who still thinks this whole discussion is about the 3jump script.
Having gotten that out of the way:
