Beta 5 uses the NS folder, not nsp. You can even delete nsp if you want (you might want your configs first) and beta five will run fine. So there is no need to rename any folders.

Uninstall, just delete all nswahtever directories you have and try again. It -really- shouldn't put stuff in the nsp directory, my installer didn't.

Before you join a game you might wanna check the game ascending/descending tab.
Within that tab you will see if the server is running <b>NS v3.0 beta 4a
or
NS v3.0 beta 5</b>
This will help to prevent you from join the wrong servers.
When you join the wrong server it will make a folder either named NS or NSp depending on the server due to the missing game, so you can delete the folder later.
your problem most likely is the same one i had..if you have both beta4 and beta5 installed then you probably had your steam server filter set to beta4...click on fliter and then change the game type to Natural Selection B5...if that doesn't solve it then i'm not sure what it is

i have a similar problem. I downloaded and installed beta 5 and there are files in my ns folder, but when i go to "internet" only a few beta 4a servers show up. When i go to my favs (i know these servers have b5) and try to join a game the game loads about half way then returns me to the main screen without any error message. whats going on?

okay your problem is that you have the old installation of NS. Go ahead and back up your your config.cfg and uninstall what you have now, and go grab the NS 3.0 b6 client installation and let the install file auto-detect the proper directory and continue with the install

Update: i see also the 5 now, but very few. And there is also very few servers in total without any filter.
And i can't join anything.
i have a ns folder with 1 subfolder and 1 files. All the rest is in nsp.
Maybe it is the mirror? Maybe i've installed an old version....
