you ONLY like DMS and whine about Sens
To proove that fact I will never ever drop the first defense chamber again, if im first its simply never a Defense chamber.
You can whine and say stuff like "Ollj did it" I wont care because Be nice.
It is really that simple.

Im just bored of defense first and the flaming/kicking I get for playing good ns and no "DMS, Fade only" NS, the game is bigger than that.

learn how to play NS.

Agreed Ollj. I like sensory first as well, and I've even tried to convince people to go movement first. Movement first can be won, I've seen it happen, and silenced skulks are very dangerous when theres no motion tracking. Although DMS is tried and true, and works very well for base-breaking fades and 2 hive onos, sensory networks can cripple marines very easily in the early game.

Also, Ive seen you a few times on the [NAR] servers
Was wondering where I recognized your name from.

I was in the games where you were dropping sensory and movement, from what I saw you gorged at the start of the game, dropped one sensory/movement chamber, changed to skulk and laughed at the people mad at you for it, no one agreed to drop sensory 2 seconds into the game and it wouldnt of hurt you to ask your teammates first. Many of the alien players would of been ok about it (they said) but what are we suppose to do with 1 sensory chamber a minute into the game, hope for the best and want the game to go your way? it doesnt work that way

and saying lick my *** and calling people noobs about in-game it doenst help

Most of the time, people don't even buy upgrade's while they're a Skulk so why do they really care what chamber they get first? They should be more concerned about the second.

Hello - the first is just as important as the second. It's not like the first disappears when the second comes around. Frankly, with the frequency that obs drops right at the start now, sensory hasn't really been effective on the servers I've been playing on.

M first has a couple of unique advantages. First, you can start building a hive and have instant transportation there. Secondly, silence is one of the best tools in the early game (>> cloaking, imo). Celerity helps skulks about as much as cara, and adren is teh win for gorges.

It all comes down to teamwork. DMS is the most predominate course because its the most teamwork independant upgrade path. In order to pull of a win with either Movement or Sensory first requires at least a moderate-to-skilled level of teamwork on the entire alien team. Something that just isn't found in the majority of public servers

    Wow..

So I guess if everyone's fun depended on you dropping that sensory chamber, then you wouldn't really give a damn since YUO R TEH OLLJ and the universe revolves around you only. Who cares if other people want to play the game a certain way? You want to play it with sensory first and nobody else's opinions matter.

It depends on what type of game youre playing. Both sens and mc work great on pubs, but not as well in clangames (even though I do prefer sens as second chamber).

Any game that has FF enabled movement is a very viable first chamber. Move first, then prioritize expansion (as opposed to attacking) and get second hive up ASAP for def. If the skulks can't take control of at least one other hive with the added bonus of silence and celerity, then you don't deserve to win.

Gah...I simply can't understand you Ollj.

You're saying that DMS is bad and unchaining chambers is also bad.

Like Russia, Ollj is a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

I do have some hope for unchaining the chambers though, because in the Beta 5 changelog it said:

QUOTE

O Unchained alien lifeforms, like regular NS:

They know about the term "Unchaining"! It's gotta be a good sign!

Btw, any unchained servers still up?

Good NS, regardless of what strategy you like, is being a team player. Dropping sens first requires more meticulous planning than you can rely on consistently having in a pub. I don't like always going defense either, but always going something else would be much worse IMO, so I can't blame people for avoiding games you're in if you're going to do that, Ollj.

Go for it, kiddo. If I ever find myself on the same server as you, OllJ, I'll be sure to never be on your team.

p.s.: if the aliens go sensory first, here's how you beat it. Every. Single. Time.

    1. Get armor 1 (this is the de rigeur* first upgrade of any competent marine team anyways, but is especially important when facing focus).
    2. Get phase tech.
    3. Lock both hives with a phase, an elec TF and maybe elec RT, and some sentries.
    4. Tech up, win. I suggest getting the armory upgrade started before you start getting weapon upgrades, you'll want HMGs to humiliate the sensory fades.

If the aliens really out-class you DM wise, but you manage to lock the hives, that's cool. Just build an observatory and a couple siege cannons at each hive, and just phase in between the hives and base, the aliens can cap every other RT on the map but they will never, ever be able to dislodge you.

If you can't get in to one or both hives, you would have lost anyways, and probably in 5 or 6 minutes, as opposed to the 10+ it will take to kill you with SC first.

If the teams are roughly equal in DM skill, or if the marines are the superior in DM skill, feel free to capture and electrify every other RT on the map, one by one. It takes a sensory team more time to kill an electrified RT than they have.

What's the moral of the story, kids? Well,
    1. Be nice.

    2. Sensory first is such a bummer because it is susceptible to a single, easy to execute, very hard counter. Just as aliens in 1.04 had nothing to counter the JP/HMG combo, sensory first aliens have nothing to counter electrification. Nothing. Which isn't to say I haven't won with a sensory-first team, but it's always a thing the aliens decide to do as a team. I.e.: "Hey guys let's play SC first! The teams are skillstacked anyways, and it should add some additional fun and challenge." And it does.

    3. Movement's are a viable first chamber in some situations. Namely, if you've managed to grab the second hive location but your map control is lacking. Then you've got celerity fades (which are fun to play AND hard to kill), and if your building hive gets hit, you can movement to it.

    Be nice.

*Just because it's de rigeur doesn't mean it's the only possible first upgrade. In clan matches especially, there have been some innovative strategies I've seen where something other than armor 1 is the first upgrade. But it's the usual first upgrade because it's such a huge payoff for so little resources and time.

Movement first = the win. Movement first is very viable if skulks actually use silence. It's killer. Really. OF course celerity lerk is the win too, and quite capable of killing marines on it's own until shotguns appear.

    rofl

good clans use DMS 99% of the time because it's far superior to any other order... and until regen is either added passively and regen is replaced I don't see any other chamber overtaking DCs.

no... sensory or movement is just inferior. Clans that play at the highest level of teamwork (much higher than a bunch of random pubbers) still use DCs because of REGEN. That's the only reason.[/edit]

People use DMS because it won't screw you up the **** if you make a mistake.
