Would be nice if mappers would be able to specify their own detail textures and have consistency turned on for them.
Couldn't you force clients to use the same detail texture list as the server, and then force consistency with the detail textures listed in the file and then disallow using detail textures on models?
Either that our you could use a small set of standard detail textures which are allways consistency checked and let anyone use them for anything except players.

Now if I remember correcty detail textures use a .txt file to tell the map which textures are going to be replaced.... Why not just create a blank one that can be set using consistency so no-one can use detail textures in competitive play, but so we can use our own during pub games.
That way you don't have to include detail textures and we can have our cake. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> You're forgetting that DOD and CS don't have small, dark areas where small, dark aliens can hide and bite your face off. Yeah -- we'll get them in b6. Next year. Things like ammo dropping and the other new additions to NS may be more fun for the dev team to work on, but it really seems to me that the time could have been better spent on things already in the game and in use by the community.
I do think we'll get a b5a before b6, due to some more pressing bugs. And the jetpack rush... shudder. It would be fine if gorges ever got the two levels for web and preferably a third one for adrenaline, or if everyone was awesome at leap biting, but...

People are overreacting to this, really.
