there are a lot of paypal sucks sites out there, for one theres http://www.paypalsucks.com/ there are enough stories on the forums from that site to keep me from registering with paypal. But almost every site prefers paypal as a method of payment should i ignore it and register with paypal anyway and hope for the best..

I don't think anything's wrong with them. when you SELL stuff on e-bay I think they take a cut, which is annoying... but other than that, I don't think they'd be in business if they sucked that bad right?

Paypal itself is great. Watch out for the "emails" asking you to confirm your account; they're not ever from paypal.

I think it's like a lot of similar services - there are problems with it if you are careless.

Keep your computer spy-ware free, don't ever give out your password etc... little things like that which seem like common sense to most are likely the cause of the majority of the problems that arise

Well, there is a class action lawsuit against them for.. um.. something. Didn't really pay attention to it cause I wasn't eligible for it. :P

I only use them when I have to, but I haven't had any problems with them. They are really good for if you need to send money to someone in another country, as the currency conversion is quick and painless, and not that expensive.

They have kinda shady business practices, so I wouldn't really want to have my company accept payment through them. Unfortunately, they've become the defacto standard, so some people are stuck with them until something better comes along.

As for paying a bill using paypal, I'd suggest just paying directly via credit card if you can securely do so, and otherwise not worry about it too much. The number of people that have had problems with paypal isn't that large compared to the number who have survived it.

Well, I send and receive about $200 monthly, and after three years or so, I've yet to encounter a security problem. So, I can tell you it's absolutely safe, unless you do something stupid (but then, it'd be your problem, not PayPal's).

I dont know what theyre like now but in the past theyve stolen alot of money from members.

They use thier terms of service to freeze people accounts in completely unfair conditions and circumstances. At one point they were pratically blatent thieves.

Do a google search for it as thier are a number of websites dedicated to hating paypal and explaining why.
