The handel looks like it would be hard to hold, but since its covered be the hand i wouldnt care, and I remember the SI animations... I think it make a kick a** gun!

Contact some modelers im sure they'll be happy to model it...

you can forget the slide,with a magazine cofiguration like that .

for me it seems to be a pistol based on the metal-storm principe, theres virtualy no place for a loading mechanism like in regular pistols with slide..theres not even place for the chamber ...

metal storm is using electric fused ammo, stacked in a barell ready to fired right out of it. it contains no moving parts, no ejection port, in fact a caseless ammo pistol.

every round is connected with the firing control processor, whos controlling the firing of each round in the right order. and its also possible to switch to a different kind of ammo, in one of the 4 barells.

its even possible to fire 3 rounds at the same time, and hitting the target with 3 rounds fired in one shot in almost the same place , with the effect of just one feeled recoil instead of 3. <img src='http://www.metalstorm.com/05_graphics/large_images/vle/vle072.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

the problem is you have to replace the whole barell when reloading, and they are a bit heavier than a magazine, and on your sketch it looks almost like it, just a very short muzzle, the magazine itself is the barell .
the non moving parts idea is very interresting , because of the increased rate of fire .
the metal storm 36 barell prototype is able to fire a burst of 180 rounds at a rate exceeding one million rounds per minute..faster than every gatling gun ever could fire.

Couldn't the magazine be the barrel though? It could be made of material that isn't as strong as your normal barrel cause it would only have to withstand a limited amount of bullets passing through it before you dispose of it.

Futuristic technology appearing now will be common place in the future obviously if it's a working design and metal storm is beginning to get a proving reputation.

as far as the reload sequence... Do what ever you want. Cool things are liek when you can "flick" the spent cartridge/clip out and slap a new one in with professional bad-arse grace.
