Pimp My Desktop!

All the ~cool~ gizmos to do it!
Before anyone says anything (besides me), this isnt another "post a screenshot of your desktop" thread. *ahem*
As we all should know, there are some pretty cool tips and tricks, programs and software to turn your desktop from an old, haggly and slightly bluish monster, into something that the gods of greek would admire. Yes, thats right, YOU can pwn zeus's computer, but only with everyones pooled effort! Post any program or gizmo you've caught sight of on the web that makes your desktop shine, including some cool desktops, but not too many, I really mean things that change aspects, like your start bar, or how you access things, etc... and if you have to shell out a few bucks for these proggies, just put somewhere in the post how much you need to, dont be shy to post some of the costy ones!
Lets see what we can find!!

windows blinds.. most download sites have a lot of spam so just google it at your leisure.
I'm just looking for something that will enable me to change the appearance of the start menu bar, and basically not have the round and bouncy windows XP button scheme.

I only have that normal scheme, and the "silver" scheme, which retains the same round shape.
Style XP seems to work nice although I've just been playing around with it for a short time.
I was going to post a pic but this computer has a weird resolution and it looks goofy when I resize.

It's a replacement shell for windows. In a sense it's like window blinds, except far more powerfull. You have to use it to really get a full grasp on what it can do.
I think there's a SP2 version hanging out some where...
Here we go...

HTML desktop?
If you switch to Litestep, it will replace your desktop icons and taskbar with something else. It will not affect the behavior of CTRL+ALT+DELETE. Litestep does not do file management, so you will still see Explorer launched in order to manage your files.
Of course, I recommend you try switching your browser from Internet Explorer to something else first. If you feel comfortable doing that, you may be ready for Litestep.
