Yaaay? or NAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!??
Yo guys its me, again. Venon Kay from BOLTON! <--- For the Bo selecta fans!

anyway........

Ive recent updated my computer to a very high standard basicly and im very pleased with teh beast!

current specs...

AMD XP 2500 Barton overclocked to 2.16ghz
Abit NF7-S
1gb of Corsair ram
ATI Radeon 9600xt 256mb
120gb SATA Maxtor HDD
400w Antec PSU
Thermaltake volcano 12
8 fans including CPU
All housed in a Cheiftech Dragon Green case! in Neon Green!

if i had a pic i would show it you!

Anyway i want to overclock and create a silent computer because at the moment its very loud and i have an hot air outtake fan blowing on my bare legs which is getting very cold. Current System Temp is 27 degrees and CPU temp is 43 degrees.

so not bad. can any of you recamend some water cooling and sites pref UK

thanks

note that often watercooling is not silent (due to fans on the tank) but mostly powerful cooling.

If you want silence, go for an oversized heatsink/fan combination, or a Reserator. But I heard the reserator can't stand OC that much

With a WC you could get that 2500+ barton up to about 2400-2500mhz if you have a good cpu core. However the costs for a decent WC is about $180-300 depending on what you are getting for equipment, now if you are willing to pay this i'd say go for it.

One more thing to try before you do this is to test your cpu core stepping quality. Keep the voltage of the cpu core to 1.65-1.75 volt and try to get it running at a 2300mhz or higher .

I'm running a aircooled rig with a barton 2500+. And am able to run stable at 2420mhz using 1.75 volt. The temps are acceptable, but I need to run my delta fan at 5000rpm to keep it below 53-55 degrees celcious on full load (NOICE!!! )

So what i'm getting at is try to see what the maximum mhz is on the lowest voltage so the temps are acceptable.

    Good luck...

Note on the more noice of wc :/
Bigger fans at lower rpm produce less noice with the same amount or more airflow then smaller fan. 120mm VS 60mm-80mm, so in fact getting a radiator which uses 120mm fans you get a big decrease in dB/noice

Liquid Nitro all the way man. If your going to cool, might as well boost it to the top.

I love my koolance tower, it comes with everything except the parts that attach to your videocard/processor/harddrive/whatever you want. But their not too expensive to buy, about 15 per additional part. Keeps my p4/radeon 9800 at a nice 80 degrees

    You mean something like this?

Don't bother with water until you have serious cash to throw around.

You can make water cooling silent if you get a large radiator, and then boost the effective cooling power on that with those peltier circuit pad gizmos between all the parts that generate heat and the water blocks.

I was researching this for myself (seeing as how I'll be making some serious money in a year or so). And the system I was detailing above ran around $700 for all the new parts I'd be needing.

So, yeah, don't use water cooling if you don't need it.

whats a good system that doesnt make alot of noise that cools well?

a decent (very) case! with padding and good intake and outtake slots for fans and that is aluimium

Aye, I'm with [WHO]Them. If you're still running a 9600 you don't want to be spending money on water cooling.

cheap watercooling can be done for about 150$ you need to be ingenuitive and get the parts at aquaruim stores and tubing from hardware stores, radiators from auto parts stores. that way, it's a fun project. buying parts made for computers is just spending more money to save on some effort.

watercooling can bring great overclocks OR great noise reductions, its difficult to have both.

my barton 2500 does 2450mhz with my weak watercooling, 48C (running at full load for several weeks) 1.78 volts

a decent sized radiator (24cm by 12cm by 5cm approx) and a couple of low rpm fans will get you much quieter than your current setup with only a marginal increase in OC capability. it might not be worth it. however, dont forget the newfound pwoers of liquid transportative cooling. theres no need to dump all that heat into your computer anymore! mount the radiator under your chair for perpetual butt-warming, or hang it out the window in winter for some really drastically amazing overclocks with NO FANS (setting it on a windowsill got my core temperature down to 5C this january)

and since the radiator is not in the computer, theres more leeway for the video card and northbridge and harddrives to stay cooler and live longer!

yeah bugger it cba with the old watercooling.

Is there any more improvements i can do with my current set up.

2 intake fans at the front one directly blowing cold air in, anothing blowing cold air onto the HDD + i have 2 small fans on the bottom of my HDD coollling that.

one fan on the side taking hot air out from the AGP and 2 fans on the out take taking hot air away from the CPU and PSU then to fans in the PSU blowing cold air in onto the CPU!

AND THEN my thermaltake volcano 12 cooling my CPU, lol!

so shall i get some sound proofing or anything else?

cut your ears off it's less expensive and will have some results

Your last post is asking about improvements you can do to your case. He said cut off your ears. It's a very valid suggestion, and there's no need to get rude about it.

my previous post did mention about either the Reserator (which is a huge blue tower with a weak pump. Most silent solution but weakest watercooling solution compared to stronger pumps and with fans) or huge heatsinks such as the Thermalright solutions (SP-97) with a fan corresponding to your needs.
