the script/mwheelbind is just to help your timing. no one can possibly get every single jump on time with the spacebar. well, i cant, at least. but then i have 20 fps :x
The thing about scripts is that people think they increase skill. Its not true. If you suck, no config can save you.
I recommend reading this article <a href='http://www.sirlin.net/Features/feature_PlayToWinPart1.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.sirlin.net/Features/feature_PlayToWinPart1.htm</a>
for your belief against scripts. This article changed the way I looked at competitive games and helped me become the player I am today.

I would also definitely recommend reading that article FW posted, it's very well written and he has some very good ideas.

I was never a big Street Fighter player, but I tried to draw analogies between SF and NS as much as I could so as to see if my "position" of being anti-script is legitimate, or if I, in an attempt to "play to win" must make a tripple jump script and use it on a regular basis in order to play with the pros.
Here is my conclusion. Scripts are not bad. heck, even WASD is a script. What is bad is this: using a script to enable a person to do a move that is otherwise near impossible. Now, I'm not debating that there isn't an element of skill involved in bunny hopping. There is. However, if the script for jump as determined in the "setup" of the game is 1 jump, and in order to bunny hop a person needs 3 perfect jumps, then said bunny hopper should become skillful enough to time those three jumps together.
Now, I know that because of this view I will probably be labled a scrub, but I will liken it to marvel v. capcom. They touched on a move that you can do with Iceman, which involved stopping a special move, slowing down with another move, and starting the special again to get more "hits" on the opponent. I liken bunny hopping to "scripting" all of that into only needing to press 1 punch button with some joystick movements.
The other argument is that "everyone can script if they want to"... YES, they can. But why should I as a player of the game have to use a timing script in order to loose my scrub status? Why should I have to rely on a script to help me with my timing because it is "practically impossible" to do it without?
So there it is, I am not a scripter. Do I condemn those that are? - no. But every time you bunny hop, realize it is not you doing it, it is a script.
