I'm finally considering it...
Well I've been playing since the first day and I still didn't give needed credit to Flayra for the most addictive game I've ever played, for the reason I didn't have a paypal account/credit card and my parents wouldn't help me give some money.

I had quite some money for my birthday (thanks to my good grades ) and I'm finally considering to send cash from France to Flayra. Now my questions would be...

1. Can I send Euros or should I change to US Dollars first?
2. How safe is sending cash overseas? (especially since I'm thinking about sending more than the minimum required)
3. How much should I expect (about) for that package? I have no idea how much it should weigh (~2-3 bills in Euros I'd think) and I don't expect you to know french tarification, but I don't want to pay excessively expensive for a little enveloppe.

Please do yourself a huge favor and create a Paypal account (free and no credit card necessary). You can go to your local bank and transfer money from your debit account to your paypal account (which takes a few days) and then you can use the "even more virtual money" to pay for constellation using your paypal account without any further use for a credit card.

Just my opinion... but I consider bank transfers to be relatively safer than actually sending paper money through the post.

Your best resource on how-to send via postal : http://www.natural-selection.org/const.html

Can't blame you skimping on the main page though. I do that all the time

I mailed my donation in because I don't like paypal, it wasn't an international shipment though. I sent mine in a standard size envelope so it was charged as a regular letter. The total package will weigh roughly the envelope you put it in, unless you plan on sending Flayra 30$ in singles . The only way to know is to go to the post office and ask how much it will cost to send. Oh and you'll probably be able to buy insurance on it, so if it gets lost you're still covered.

thing is, I'm still minor so I shouldn't be able to use Paypal. I know all precautions to take when sending cash (put black or thick paper around the money) but I'm looking at a considerable amount of money, even moreso considering my age, to be sent overseas by simple postal service.

I sent my 20$ 2 weeks ago. Still no response

If you really feel that it's risky, it's best not to send it yet.

Unless you are really willing to take the risk. I can't help you decide because you are yourself. You decide wether to send it.

Sending cash by mail is questionable, regardless of the precautions taken. However, if there really is no suitable alternative, remember to send by registered mail.

I checked the French postal service, and sending the funds by standard airmail should only cost 0.90 Euros or so.
The following site should be useful: Calculer le tarif de vos envois ici!

Cereal, good luck regardless with the application, it's good to see another 'NS lifer' join the club.

As for sending the money, consider the number of mails sent vs the number that get lost. I send all sorts of things regularily from the UK to Aus, and back again, all by regular mail. Yes, I take the chance, but 99.99% of mail gets through okay, so you're probably better off.

One thing to consider would be to bug someone local to you (nationally) who has a PayPal account you trust. I can't stress that point enough, and have them pay it for you & you send them the cash? Of course, this relies on you trusting the person fully.

Bit of a quandry I'm afraid.

Will one of your parents not let you use their Credit Card? Give them the cash for same value of what you're sending...

and if you're sending any amount of money, post is a really bad way of doing it as already said

I've sent money via snail mail on two occasions. On both cases, it never reached the recepient. Do yourself a favor and find someone with a paypal account to do the transfer for you, you just don't want anything to happen to your money.

coris, two weeks seem a little long. I'd suggest to send a reminder to Flayra - it's getting somewhat hectic behind the scenes atm, so it's best to bug him a little if you want responses

shanks: my parents are against the idea of giving away money, especially if it's for something they don't personally like and over the net. I'd have given money a long time ago if they'd have let me.

weggy: I have no idea what a money order is. Is it some kind of check? Where can I get it and how does it work? Does Flayra accept them?

Just make sure you remember to write down the consti forum password somewhere when you get it as I just formatted and I can't remember it for the life of me. Is Flayra the guy to pmsg or can someone that knows me just msg it to me?

    - take an envelop
    - write your data (steamID/Name/E-mail) on a sheet of paper
    - fold this paper and pur the money in the middle
    - put the folded sheet of paper with the money into the envelop
    - write the address at the envelop
    - pay about 2-3 Euros for sending the whole thing
    - check your mailbox after 2 weeks

Thats exactly how i did it. ( I wasnt sure either if i should send more than 20 Euros due to the fact that there are changing costs if you want to change Euros into Dollars. So i sent 25 Euros and payed 2 or 3 Euros to send it)

I wasnt sure either if it works or not...but hey it did work
just put the money into the sheet of paper (this way they wont be able to see that there is Money inside the envelop)

Another possibility is (and you should think about that if you want to send more money) something (i dont remeber the name sorry ) where you pay some euros more (i think it is 5 instead of 2). If you pay that they will send it with other money-envelops. And this way is much more secure than the other one.

So...I hope I was able to help you
(btw I am from Austria not from France...so the prices will most likely be different)
