Granted some of them had moderate flaws, but don't you want to weld open the recond res in central processing again, and walk through the old Marine start in eclipse? I would like to see the old versions of the maps again.
They should add the old maps in for fun, like retro_ns_eclipse <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
You can download the original maps <a href='http://www.brywright.co.uk/downloads/files/index.php?dir=natural-selection/maps/&file=NS_1.04_Maps_v3.zip' target='_blank'>here</a> simply extract to your nsp folder. However, be warned the onos willg et stuck on them
We play ns_eclipse104 on my server <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Its good fun as long as everyone stays fade and not onos <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The problem is with all the changes in the new versions, the maps probably wouldn't be balanced. Though they are fun to look at <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That map is HUGE. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> Agreed. Sadly, its entitycount was simply beyond good and evil. I've got to say that Hera remains my favorite map, though.
Keep the original map nemesis so we can remake it when HL2 come out!!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Even if it ever comes to that (<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35' target='_blank'>which is not decided yet</a>), it'd be up to Merkaba whether and how to port Hera - it's his map, after all.
If I remember the story correctly (and it's been a while, so correct me if I'm wrong), narby had to move on to paid projects before ironing all of romana's flukes out. Thus, it was not included, and since NS mapping has changed quite significantly since that date, I doubt that a 'revival' of the map would make any kind of sense. It's a pity since romana had a few distinctly nice touches (I have fond memories of being maimed to Kharaa stew by a working tram), but I doubt it'll ever see the light of day.

You'd be surprised what people will agree to if you email them and ask nicely. I'm not sure it would be at all playable in NS today, though. Note the page says it 'contains 32 spawn points'? Makes me wonder if it even has more than one hive location. But it would be nice to have just as an historic curiosity at least.

You're right, sorry, but could someone PM the servers they know of?
and on the topic of old maps, is europa going to make a come back? I liked that map.
Loved original bast - atmospheric enough for a single player game Original caged as well. All that random complex infrastructure, and far less orientation cues. Original Hera walkway
The only thing I do miss about the old maps though is the smooth ceilings which allowed skulks to coil smoothly around the terrain(floor/wall/ceiling) without getting stuck somewhere every 5 seconds.

No arguement, fact.

PS: are we going to release Barney's NS map with "B5" as you call it?
*i don't think this has been dicussed what we are planning to do with it, just that it exists*
