<div class="IPBDescription">Kung Fu film geniuses, help!</div> <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Based on a popular martial arts novel by Jin Yong, there have been half a dozen tv series and movies based on it. The basic plot starts with Jet Li's parents dying before his eyes and he vows revenge. Jet Li is physically incapable of fighting, due to receiving the "Jinx's Palm" as a child, but he is cured when he learns the "Great Solar Stance" with which he becomes a hero! Type "Jin Yong" on any web search engine and you'll be able to find out more about the author.

A world dominated by the conflicts and politics of warring martial arts schools may seem improbable and exotic to Westerners, but is quite accurately rooted in the history and culture of China and treated at length in ancient literature. KUNG FU CULT MASTER is an extravagantly entertaining re-creation of that time, which also inspired such films as SWORDSMAN and THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR . The Shaolin Sect and the Ming Sect are locked in decades-long struggle over who will rule, and young Chang Mo-kai sees both his parents die as a result of the feud. He grows up to be played by martial arts star Jet Li, under the tutelage of a wise monk. Airborne acrobatics, Kung Fu forms and colorful pageantry enhance a fast-paced story that centers around a search for the missing Toh Lung Sword and its accompanying scroll that confers special powers on the owner. An anti-totalitarian subtext and a plea for democracy in the finale are most certainly references to Hong Kong's current political dilemma.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I need some help. Has anyone ever seen the TV series of which this movie is based on? I must know the ending, please either tell me the name of the tv show or tell me how it ends after this first film (where the governer makes Mo-Kei promise 3 things).

Note: This film is also called "The Evil Cult" or something along those lines.

I read the book. Actually I have read all of Jin Yong books. I can tell you I'm the expert when it comes to Jin Yong novels.

The film does no justice to this 8 TPB volumes novels (at least in my country)

I can't just tell you how this novel ends, that's like trying to summarize Lord of the Ring in 3 paragraphs. You will want to be more specific in the question.

PS: The English title should be Heavenly Sword, Dragon Sabre, or something like that.

The novel itself is actually part of the Condor Heroes series.

    1. The Eagle Shooting Heroes (8TPB)
    2. The Legendary Eagle Hero/couple (8TPB) AKA Return of the Condor Heroes
    3. Heavenly Sword, Dragon Sabre (8TPB)

Brining the trilogy to a whopping 24 volumes. The trilogy starts from the fall of Song Dynasty to the rise of Yuan dynasty and finally to the beginning of Ming dynasty. The whole story took place within 100+ years period.

And that synopsis of yours, I'm gonna guess it comes from a Vietnamese website, since they have all the names screwed up (as in Vietnamese instead of Mandarin)

    [spoilers]
At the end of the movie, Jet Li (Mo-Kei) promises the Governer Yuen or whatever not to use his Great Solar Stance or his Magic Stands. Then he defeats the Jinxes using the Wu-Tong martial arts, and the Governer runs away, saying, "Remember, you still have to promise me one more thing!"
What happens after that? What does he promise her? If you could, PM me a whole page of it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Oh that part.

The novel was so long, I believed that sequence was at about volume 3 or 4.
Oh, and there have been countless remakes of Jin Yong's novel on TV that I lost count. I personally have seen 3 versions of Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre tv series.

I still cannot summarize it to you, there's so many plot twists and all little details that wovens into the story. Jin Yong was too good a story teller for anyone to try to summarize.

But here's some English translation if you're curious.

All critics agree, the Smiling Proud Wanderer is the best Kungfu novels, ever.

PS: Reading Jin Yong's The Condor Heroes is a requirement for being Chinese. I kid you not. Every Chinese KNOWS Jin Yong.

Someone watch LoTR: Return of the King, get a screenie of Frodo just before he drops it, then smack "PWNT!" in huge, obnoxious letters on it. Oh yeah.

What are the names of the characters in the book?

    Mo-Kei =
    Siu Chiu =
    Governer whatever =
    Master Chang =

    etc etc

Plus, are the Kings of the Gold Lion, White Eagle, Green Bat, and Queen of the Purple Dragon in the book, or is that just something added in the movie?

    Frankly I have no clues.

I have never heard the names in Vietnamese before.
But the main character name is Zhang Wuji.

    The four guardians do exist.
