Alien Equivalent Of Knockback

MarineAnimalMarineAnimal Join Date: 2004-05-14 Member: 28676Members
Beta 5: "Alien attacks apply a reduced knock-back effect. If a player is in the air and receives knock-back damage the effect is 50% of what it was in build 4a, if the player is in Heavy Armor (HA) that player's knock-back is further reduced by 50%."

I say we add a "knockback" for aliens: When a marine shoots a skulk, it is pulled TOWARDS the marine.

Does it make sense? Of course not! Neither does air-knockback!

Just be patient... You have NOT tried it yet... But PT's did... There was a problem with knockback... Devs solved it like that... and PTs tested it... It may be a good solution without disturbing the gameplay of both sides... Just be patient; and comment after you try...

    That would kinda suck.

*Skulk attempting to para and run away gets tracked in by the reverse push lmgs*

The skulk could kill the marine easier!

I'm just making fun of knockback of course, this is a joke.

    Tractor beam!

Really though this would be more disadvantegous than not.

Sound's more like CS and DOD to me, where you get shot for little to no damage and you sit there for about 3 second's before you can move again or you just slowly and pathetically die. Really annoying.

I started a topic to discuss the current state of knockback, and how it was being changed. I don't want a tractor beam, or for aliens to be pulled at marines. I am saying air-knockback doesn't make sense, and it is ridiculous that you kick a marine 10-20 feet back when you BITE him.

I'm saying would't it also suck as a marine when a skulk is running towards you, and you shoot it, all of a sudden he's right next to you in biting range. It's just the reverse effect for both sides. If you knock a marine back, he is far away from you where he can shoot from a distance. If a skulk is right next to you it's easiest for it to bite.

True I havn't played the next beta, but I just know it sucks.

Again I DON'T want my "idea" in the game.

1/10th of the current air knockback.

Not really. Hollywood makes it like you get knocked away when you get hit. Not enough momentum/inertia in a bullet to do that. You'll flinch in sever pain, fall over and die. End of story.

I can imagine it is the same when I get with a paintball in the neck or groin. It hurts. You don't stop moving for a split second. And if you are really charging you can keep moving even though you are dying. Some of you guys need a dose of reality.

PS: this the most annoying thing every when you are having fun shooting arround the thing I hate most about CS and DoD and somethign I love about TFC, NS, and many other mods. It isn't actually more realistic so stop saying it is.

DO NOT include this in NS.

For the love of god people, please don't.

example: Onos is charging (or fade blinking) and ONE bullet from a pistol completely stalls him!?!?! Come on. You realize how lame that would be? (Not to mention annoying as hell)

I dunno, I've been shot dozens of times before, and right away I stand still and ponder to myself, "I wonder why I've been shot. Could he have family issues at home? Is he a victim, and perhaps he shooting me is the only way he can express his anger? I'm not sure, but I think I'll stand here and say a prayer for that poor, misguided soul."

Realism kinda goes out the window when you bring deadly spike-limbed dogs, pigs of doom, bipedal cougars with attitudes and 3 ton space cows into the picture.
