Hair Bleach?

dye!
I've made an appointment to get my hair bleached!

In a hair salon and everything!

I'm actually quite nervous, as up to this point my hair management has consisted of:

Get hair cut short at barbers
Never comb, never gel
Wait three months
Repeat

So changing to blonde and having to gel stuff down/up/across everywhere will be quite an ordeal. Worth the hassle? Anyone here ever dyed their hair? Loved it, hated it? It grows out, right? Will I feel like a camp-man for months? Will the chavs point and giggle? There's no risk of ginger, right?

First time I decided to dye my hair I stopped at the bleaching point.

I liked the effect of the bleach so I didn't bother to dye it. My hair is light to begin with so when I was done with the bleach my hair was damned near translucent.

Go for it. If you don't like it you can always shave your head

There is always a risk of ginger.

And yeah, bleached my hair several times over. Proving the person knowing what they're doing, it should come out fine. It won't damage your hair too much for just the once, but beware of roots.

    Sorry, what's the difference?

Do you bleach before dye? Like undercoat before matt? Bleaching just makes it yellow? A dye is any hue, right on cue?

While you're at it, bleach your skin as well.

    Bleaching isn't dying.

Bleaching is removing the pygment from your hair, dying is just adding another layer of colour over the top, or whatever.

Most hair dyes have no effect whatsoever on dark hair, but have a massive effect on light hair, bleaching is always a good idea to do before dying a different colour.

Well he's bleeching it so he can dye it. Who are you to take away his god given right to look silly.

All jokes aside I'm pretty sure you can trust the salon not to mangle your head too bad flint. Allow me to suggest neon orange, sheek, sophisticated, makes it safer to cross roads at night, completely dazzle people on hallucinegons.

Can't I just bleach for that, or does it need dye too?

Yes, it's always great to have dark facial hair, yet a bright blond head of hair! Show everyone you've got a fake hair color! Eh... might as well be happy with what you have.

If you're anything like me, or semi-lazy (which you are, by not doing anything to your hair for 3 months) you won't do what it takes to keep up the hair. So you probably won't like it. I know from experience.

I have dark facial hair and I am blonde. One of life's little oddities. Not that it makes a difference or anything.

(I could grow a moustache. No beard, just don't have the hair for it. Mid twenties and there is no chance of me growing any sort of beard )

Warning: Bleacing fries your hair after a few months. I bleached/colored my hair at one point, it was all fine and good up until about a month or so later, everything got dry and sucked.

I'm kind of interested as to what you're going to be doing with your hair though. I'm into fashion and all, I dig it like no other, actually.

Lucky bastage. 16 years old, I can grow a pretty thick beard in a couple days, but NO moustache. I get lazy for like 2/3 days and don't shave and I get the WORST facial-hair-stylin' possible....

Go for it. I've done it 3 times I think, and I was happy with it for a while. Don't listen to the people who tell you that your hair will get discolored if you go into a pool, etc. All lies. As long as you don't get cheap bleach, you'll be fine.

My sister used to bleach her hair a bit, then put red highlights. Looked good on her XD

But yeah, if you're really intent on bleaching your hair, go for it. You gotta take risks sometimes.

And FYI, 15 and beginning to start growing a beard and moustache. Not necessarily thick, but they're visible.

When I dyed my hair a deep red from blonde, I didn't bleach, neither when I had it black. When my mom demanded that it went back blonde, My root from the black are now white and the rest is an oragnish colour.. <_<

    Whoops! Chickened out!

I've decided to do it when I leave my current job.

The salon scared me silly, except for the bit where the stunningly attractive nineteen year old girl rubbed her fingers through my hair whilst leaning her chest over my face.

    "Do you use conditioner?"
    "YES!"

Well, it seems like I've received an inferior haircut for double the price. The guy was saying how he'd "texture" it and that'd be "cool," but after he'd said the word texture for the fifth time I'd started to lose all hope. He gelled it up something fierce (which initially appeared like he was lubing his right index finger, an action to which my silent screams went unheard), but without a colour change it's just a bit samey. To be honest, I left wanted it bleached more than ever so that's something.

It's OK, I suppose, but I'll just need to get it cut again in three weeks!

Generally yes us people that bleach hair are vampires. I got mine dyed about 2 months ago and my dark roots are starting to come back, it looks pretty nice but did start off slightly ginger. I'd say bleaching is better, worked 100% of the time, only problem you gotta look at is long term affects . ie. hairloss.
