the "Myth" about shooting fades in the legs is due to the fact that its hitbox is borked. When a fade crouches on the ground, half his hitbox goes under the floor, effectively making the upper half of his body immune to damage. Bullets just won't register waist up on a fade when he's crouching. They hide behind turretfactories, and marines shoot thier head, thinking that he's eating lead when he's at 300/150 the whole time.

What isn't affected, though, is the bottom half of the hitbox, or his "legs". No matter if he crouches or not, shooting his legs will always register, because even if the hitbox shifts, it always covers the legs.

Thats why people say to shoot the legs of a fade, but it shouldn't cause problems later because the hitbox is fixed for beta 5.

Other than that, there arn't really anything special about hitboxes. Sometimes building hitboxes will cover them, even though you can see the limbs. A perfect example is shown in my rt-biting guide:

Well, without taking into consideration lag (which definitely will affect hitboxes) then the only aliens you should worry about are the lerk and the fade. The lerk's wings aren't part of its hitbox, and the fade's hitbox sinks into the ground when it crouches, so always aim for the legs/**** (if you're weird like that )

Always aim for the fades legs, I say aim for the balls, but hey.

Always because the fades can be crouching while using blink to try and make himself a harder target

(well thats what I do )

Onos (omg as if you cant hit an onos) aim for the head its the largest hitbox area. Esp with SG to make sure every pellet hits.

Sorry, but that's not true. It doesn't go underground- it simply shrinks down to that of the actual crouching fade player. The model wouldn't even fit in a vent if the crouching fade were all hitable- It's hardly any shorter when crouching than standing. The only "Fix" nessacary would be to make a better crouching fade model, more accurate to it's size.

These days I am noticing I have trouble with skulks that move directly in front of me jumping once then coming down for the bite. I aim straight at their face, but it does not seem to work. Should I aim below the actual face when the skulk is going down? I have no problems killing skulks from the side though.

Perhaps fades should be on their hands (blades? can-openers?) and knees when crouched.

I don't see why shooting the face wouldn't work. By 'not working' I assume that you mean that the skulk isn't dying when you shoot him there. Its probably just coincidence, then. The skulks you've been shooting in the face maybe had a defence upgrade that enabled it to take more hurt...like carapace.

Whenever i see the alien, I aim straight for the center of the model and try to follow his movements with my mouse to make sure he's dead. After you play ns for long enough, you can pretty much anticipate where the alien is going to go once he sees you.

well usually i just shoot in the general direction of the skulk and usually it dies. then i spam text bind for med and proceed to knife a lone gorge. then i die.

i do this for 4 hours a day MIN.

Aim for the head of nothing. Always aim for the fat body bit. This goes for marines AND aliens. Why? Fat bit moves least, and if the target is travelling in any direction then you'll have a bit of leeway if you're aiming for the target centre.

Aiming for the EDGE of the target (nose, legs, head) means you've more chance of a miss if the target moves.

that describes alot like the skulk before it learned to evolve and walk.

The only tough one is the fade. Aim for the legs/waist/balls and you'll hit it. Not even a fade likes a shottie to it's 'junk'.

As for the rest, just get used to how they move, and what they're capable of. Soon, you'll predict where they'll end up, and you're in the clear.
