need help choosing
Hiya,

On the 4th of september I am moving to a new flat gor uni. The flat only has a BT line. I am wanting to get DSL in the flat mainly for gaming but I'm doing a computing degree as I will be able to access my work from home as well.

Right now I'm on oneTel 512k broadband. I am thinking of looking about to see if there are any better deals around atm and I was wondering if anyone has a good service provider with cheap broadband?

Right now I am charged £24pcm(Yes thats $43) and I have no bandwidth cap either.

Anyway if anyone has a sugestion for a good ISP please reply.

    Hia Rue.
    I am on a Pipex package for 600k at £19.99 a month. (Solo 500.)
It says 512 on the website, but I connect at much closer to 600, (575?) which also corresponds to online test results too. Meh. Can't complain.

This may be helpful: (I think it's pretty comprehensive, and it has some good info too)

Reminds me, must go get my A-level results.

You say the flat only has a BT connection but is it a BT only area? If Telewest is available try and get a box put in if it is allowed and use their Blueyonder broadband service. Best ISP I've used so far. Currently it's £35 a month for 1.5Mb/s. No bandwidth cap afaik and I download a lot. Couldn't tell you about installation though, we got it for free

    Or.... you could ask... ADSLGuide

I would praise Zen, but then again, I work for them, so I'm obviously biased, aren't I? But if you'll believe my opinion, I've worked for 4 ISP's, and they're EASILY the best I've seen. Full stop.

Use DSLGuide, at least (unlike most) they're independant.
