The trailer does not do the movie justice. The overall feel of it is completely different.
It's not a movie for everyone, but it's a beautiful one. And when you realise what's really going on at the end, it'll give you goosebumps.
The combat is more graceful moves than "ogm matrics kungfoo!"-fighting. Ie. the emperor vs. Broken Sword fighting among the drapings in his palace. Incredible.
As for the "dubbed vs. subtitled" subject, I'd say I'd go for subtitled any day. I always try to watch movies in their original languages, just as I try to read books in their original language when possible. Art is usually best expressed when not reworked.

And, eh. What's with the late US release? <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> The only movie I remember comparing it too was Braveheart with the arrow volley...I don't know where you people are pulling this Matrix stuff from...
[the only thing good about the Matrix action wise was bullet time - the martial arts didn't look quite fluid enough to me. The plot is in-depth (at least in the first one - don't care if you know it was supposed to be a triolgy from the start). Plus it sucks because Keanu Reeves sucks at...well, anything but "duuuh?" emotions]
Maybe it's just that you can basically see the actors floating in the wire harnesses and it doesn't look natural that irks me a bit. I'm all for the sword fighting, just not the super-human martial arts flying (...Matrix 2 & 3, CT:HD...).
There're much better Kung fu film than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. There're much better Kung fu film than Hero.
The arrows doesn't spin in the movie. And it looks pretty bad just because of that. Both Crouching Tiger and Hero looks like Ashes of Time the sequel to me.

Actually, my roommate seems to think that the US release will be subtitled. His reasoning is that Tarantino is the one bringing it to the states. He also brought over Iron Monkey, which wasn't dubbed over. To quote him, "He's an ***, but he's a film lover. I seriously seriously doubt he'd have it dubbed."
I'd love to get a definitive answer.
[edit]From what I can glean from Greg over at Yahoo Movies (the guy who formerly ran upcoming-movies.com), it's going to be subtitled. Good choice.

A really professional dubbing job can still convey the sense of the movie. Ideally, IMO, voice recording for dubbing would be overseen by the director himself, so he can give the same coaching to the voice actors that he did to the live-action actors.
Example of good dubbing (IMO): Princess Mononoke
Example of crap dubbing (IMO): Fox Kid's dub of Escaflowne
Generally, you're going to experience the movie as intended if you get the subbed version, simply because even if you don't catch every word in the sub, the character's voices and emotions come through. But in the end, if you don't want to read subs, don't read them. Just understand that you may not be experiencing the movie quite as the director intended you to. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> I find that the movies with the best dubbing are the movies that get the original actors to do the dubs.
The only preference I have regarding dubbing is that I can only watch it in the first format I saw it. If I start a series dubbed I need to finish it dubbed, visa-versa for subs.
Notable exceptions:
1. Princess Mononoke (prefers dubbed) 2. Inuyasha (subbed) 3. Excel Saga (Subbed please, the American voice just doesn't work with excel) 4. Trigun (dubbed, what can I say, it was done well) 5. Older movies (subbed) 5. Crappy subs or dubs (well they just suck either way)
Everything else, I usually prefer whatever format I see first.

Matrix martial arts were freaking LAME. In Matrix 1, okay, they were good. In Matrix 2 and 3 it was like Keanu just didn't freaking care if he got paid or not. They were obviously choreographed, they were BORING, and they accomplished NOTHING.
And I totally agree with Wizard about Tarantino. I too disliked KB1 but loved KB2 (to a degree. The movie still has loads of glaring plotholes)
