People who get so defensive about having never used a hack/cheat/aimbot/script/whatever are, in my opinion, in no position to be adminning a server. Until you know what the cheats are capable/not capable of, how can you claim to know what you are seeing...
You can in no way base a cheat accussation on how some one 'reacts' to it. That is the most obsurd thing I've heard since I last talked with Scooter_Blue. Everyone reacts differently, depending on the time of day, their mood, whether you sound like you've hit puberty or not.
Did it ever occur to you that all those people that downloaded Roaster John were just downloading them to see what the new stuff is like? Yes I know every one will claim that - even the people who are downloading to cheat, but not all. If I played online on my 2nd pc I'd get instantly banned from any server running VAC, and wouldn't even be able to connect to a CD server if I wanted to - there is a nice little folder on my desktop called "Cheats" - doesn't mean I've ever played online with them...

If you're having problems with hackers on a server, find a server with better admins. Problem solved.
I have been running a server that it constantly full nearly 24/7 for 6months now.
I have banned 2 people due to hacking in that time. If I am not on the server then there is usualy other admins on it and they have not told me of any hacking. Aimbotting is extremely obvious, just watch how he changes target, bots flick around and snap onto skulks.
If hes not doing that, then hes just got good tracking and aim.
Wallhacks are far less detectable tho.
My advice is if you run into a hacker just go to a different server, tbh i just feel sorry for those who feel the urge to cheat on an online game to give themselves an ego trip.

Look man, we KNOW that there are people who cheat at NS. To be honest though, most cheaters are not very good. A great resource to better understand cheats is www.counter-hack.net
Most cheaters seriously suck at the games they play, and therefore even cheating can't help them get that much better. Most of them also don't even understand how to really use the cheats they get.
The people who are the best, the real top tier players, they do things like kill 4-6 skulks in a row with a level 0 lmg, pistol, and knife. They are in every mod, just like cheaters are.

Wallhacks are quite obvious if you sit on a spot for more than a minute, cloaked and motionless, and get shot by a guy that clears the corner jumping, aiming with dead accuracy at your face and kills you with one shotgun blast.
tanathos: ok so u werent complaining. whatever u say. but we know there are hackers to ns, there are hackers for every game. its been stated that they are very obvious to spot usually, and as for wallhacking... use a wallhack yourself, too. that way you can find out if they know you are around the corner, or if theyre just familiar with the map and the usual ambush points.
but you must understand (here's the important part of this post) that there are _very_ skilled players in ns. just like every other game. i suggest you sign up at <a href='http://www.ampednews.com' target='_blank'>http://www.ampednews.com</a> and dl some of the demos there. also idling in ns-related irc channels can give you ip addresses for hltv'd games, like the recent exi-terror game.
and of course training your aim to (near-)perfect also gives you a good clue how easy it is to kill a skulk.
lastly, buy headphones. proper ones. they give you a real advantage over the skulks (or marines) because its possible to always tell where they are coming from and how near they are.

God, the people who claim they know what hackers are really need to learn to play the game first, they clearly couldn't spot a hacker if their life depended on it
They just happen sometimes, nothing much of a worry. Sometimes even skill can be mistaken for hacks.
I'm gonna take an example from a really old game in Lunixmonster (I think it was) that Keyser was in. He had singlehandedly killed a Fade with an LMG. Of course, I (and almost the majority of the server) know he was a good player, but the player who got killed....well, you can predict the response already.
Of course, after he killed the Fade, he got eaten by a skulk IIRC.
So yeah, try not to mistake skill with hacks :\ I mean, last time I lerked I was accused of h4x because I had regen and celerity, and that was WAY before my router decided to flunk itself.
And yes skulks are really easy to kill. The only hard bit is using the exact amount of bullets needed to kill one. One might say burst fire, but then I say suicide.
It might be new to you, folks, but remarks such as 'You are stupid.', 'Learn the game.', or links to homicidal flashmovies you think decipict just what the other guy deserves can in many cases be considered flames. I'm <i>so</i> close to sending a few regular contributors into suspension. Anyone who wants to egg me on?
